Atlantic Beach Bikefest events, hot spots
Here is a sampling of some of the top hot spots for this weekend's Atlantic Beach Bikefest, which lasts from Friday to Monday:
-- Colonial Mall-Myrtle Beach | Harley-Davidson will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to Sunday with free Harley-Davidson and Buell demo rides, the Harley- Davidson Traveling Museum, celebrity appearances, stunt shows, live entertainment, dancing, food and more. The Buell Team Xtreem will have stunt shows at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Vendors and entertainment continue each day until around 9 p.m.
Celebrity appearances are scheduled for DMC from the band Run DMC, actor and model Tyson Beckford and actor Clifton Powell. They will take part in celebrity demo rides and sign autographs afterward at the following times: 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Friday; 1, 1:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Details on which celebrities will take part in which rides were still being worked out Wednesday.
-- Redline Powersports, U.S. 501 | Redline, at 4663 U.S. 501 just west of Myrtle Beach, will have more than 20 vendors and activities.
Scheduled entertainment includes: a daily appearance by Jason Britton of the "No Limit Stunt Show''; a daily appearance by Kawasaki drag racer Rickey Gadsen; a daily meet and greet with six custom sport bike builders. A bike builders mystery ride is set to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday from Redline, with a party afterward at Hooters.
The business will host Yamaha demo rides (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday), as well as Kawasaki demo rides (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday). Suzuki also will be on hand.
-- King of the Coast Car and Bike Show | Myrtle Beach Speedway, U.S. 501, Saturday. Gates open at 11 a.m. Events include bike show registration, 9-10 a.m.; Wipe Me Down bikini wash, noon; car show, 1 p.m.; stunt show, 2 p.m.; amateur street style drag racing with $10,000 up for grabs, 3 p.m.; concert featuring Jody Breeze, Rasheeda, Neff and more, 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance. 399-6895 or 902-5477.
-- Other vendor locations | Vendors also will be set up at Rent-To-Cruise, 1987 U.S. 501, Myrtle Beach; and Biker Design, 4800 S. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach.
-- Atlantic Beach | The center of the Bikefest activities, Atlantic Beach will be home to entertainment, food and vendors all weekend long. The "We Got Next" group is leading much of the entertainment and oceanfront activities. All events are on the oceanfront area of Atlantic Beach unless otherwise noted.
