+1. LOL, in hindsight, I suppose I could have spared everyone my entire rant and just said something as simple & truthful as that! :YEAH
But to be fair & honest, I can't claim to know a damn bit of a thing about the inner workings of the judging at the past 2 events, and I really wouldn't want me saying a general statement like that to get misinterpreted as a dig or something being directed at anyone involved in the judging!
Who would be on your dream panel Thomas?

Um, appreciate the concern, really do, but... even I don't think that should be a very big priority factor in choosing a judging method.
What do I know... Readily admittedly not much. Just my observations & opinions... which I do not hesitate to admit when they do stand corrected, and had at one time hoped would be no less welcomed here than the rest of the forum's population's.
That disclaimer out of the way, again I am going to join another opinion already expressed here by others (in the other thread), but see only myself get flamed for it: yes. Lets definitely keep a system that supposedly works soooo well and doesn't allow judges to affect a riders score based on their popularity etc...a fair, non biased system, just like at StuntWars, right? *cough* I mean, for one example of many, I gotta have issues with any judging that said that Aaron Colton, for example, was SO much a better, stronger, smoother, more skilled rider than say Jesse Toler, for example,(who had a PERFECT run, more than nailed every required trick for qual, no hb. Even had the crowd giving him a standing ovation at the end. but SOMEHOW didn't even qualify?????? ), that he didn't just beat him out, he placed, what was it, like 10-12 place positions or something higher than him in qualifying? RIGHT. Bless Aaron, he's a phenomenally GREAT rider, for a 15 year old!! FOR A 15 YEAR OLD. Take the age factor away completely and put him back side by side with the top 20 again, and there were many, MANY others better than him, with cleaner runs, smoother tricks, etc etc etc. Just using the kid as a mere example, no ill opinion of him at all FYI. But I gotta say... I wasn't aware the hallowed SXBA method factored in AGE in the equation.....d'oh!
But it didn't even seem to end there, even in this same example. Cuz you see, the general consensus beforehand was that Aaron Colton was going to be one of those universally predicted 4 or 5 riders that every body knew to expect to end up in the final placing at the end-- because of their name/popularity/exposure/etc--- essentially regardless of how their actual run was. And bets shoulda been placed, because we were not disappointed. Sure enough, the names we expected to see were there, even if the runs clearly did not seem to support it logically in some cases.
Go ahead and blast me off the face of the planet Emrock, I know you will, but before you make any mention of how little I know or anything of that nature, what I've said here is NOT so much of my own knowledge/opinion/etc, even though I have to agree, in as much as I DO know so far, and from my own experience, however limited. No, all I did here was to say & relay what I heard & witnessed SOOOOOO many were saying & thinking... but I'll be taking the flaming for them on their behalf. So diss & bash & blast away, cuz every thing you gotta say back, you aren't really saying to ME. Just telling ya what others wouldn't.

Aaron colton is not a good rider becuase he is 15.....AAron Colton is a good rider period, i guess you don't understand that cause you don't know how hard it is to actually control the bike??? AAron is a very skilled rider and can ride with anyone in the US and the World......and not only stuntwars has proved that, with or without his troops he is still one of the hardest pushing riders in the US......i could write a novel about how hard this kids works but ill save it for another day, or hit myself or his father up and we'll tell you......
I think there is alot more to this conversation that you don't know about, first off it's XSBA not SXBA, Emrock misspelled and you didn't know enough about what you were talking about to correct yourself.......Second, while jesse is a very talented and entertaining rider, his difficulty was a lil lower than AArons and the other top 11 riders, that happens, i don't know if you actually watched some of the runs on sunday but there was some seriously amazing riding going on, im not even gonna get into the details of what happened cause you should have already seen it.....
I guess it kinda all goes back to why we don't let crowds judge:
our comps would be full of bar tricks, stand still burnouts and ackros......that **** is for the circus.....
and about your other screen name...........i would still have called you out no matter if you were a dude, a hot chic, a rider, a non rider, or an ugly chic......
If you don't like judged events and judges opinions, start racing, all you have to do is cross the line first and you win........alot easier and not as dramatic.......

Of all examples to make, she picks Aaron. The kid is a maniac on his bike, and works harder then pretty much the whole industry. I said it over a year ago, he is the future of our sport, and we are all going to be playing catch up to him! I already am, as he beat me at Stuntwars, and he deserved it! I am so tired of hearing people complain about something they know nothing about. Do us all a favor and stop making yourself sound so ignorant Valeska.

T-Ice I'm not gonna pretend to argue with you on 99% of that, cuz as much as people don't get it, I agree!
And hell, I said myself I don't claim to have much knowledge or experience here yet, and I said I thought Aaron was a phenomenal rider, no ill opinion of him, etc etc! I just saw enough others doing the same tricks a lil better thats all, and is to be expected, at least for the time being. Don't make what I said out to be more or less than that.
But what I WILL disagree with you on is "if i hear a another statement of he should have done better cause he didn't have a handbrake im gonna snap" I never said I thought he or ANYONE should do better b/c of a hb! So where did that come from? IMO, the hb/no hb factor should have as much influence on the actual scoring as the age should-- NONE, it just adds a lil to the respect that's all.
People, quit getting me all wrong here somehow-- I am NOT anti-handbrake okay????? Got it?

I 110% agree on everything you both have said about Aaron! I am NOT ******* on the kid! He is a model for others to follow in damn near every way I can think of! Can you clue in for just a nanosecond that I was not ragging on HIM, but referred to him as an example of how many people saw top-name riders with imperfect runs score higher than smaller namers with stronger runs. THAT IS ALL. But go ahead-- argue with me!

And Joe I agree with you as well, in regards to Aaron. I SAID i have no-- ya know what, **** it. I am NOT repeating or clarifying myself any more for those who choose to over/misinterpret! You guys just see what you want to and don't read what I actually say. And then call ME ignorant.
we are all reading the same pages so the two of us can't be the only ones that are reading you wrong........
so all in all i think that the XSBA judging rules are sweet and so far it has done nothing but help to push us as riders to develop more and or other skills which we lack.....
Burn Tires and Pop Clutches!! and well see yall at the event....!!

V,
Just to point out the whole Jesse not qualifying and Aaron did thing, even Jesse admits he didn't cover all the requirements need. He only did one burnout and one stoppie, which seriously hindered his score. The rest of his run could have been phenomenal but not covering everything needed was the down fall.
On a side note, Personally I think the judges should consist of riders and knowledgeable people in the industry, because each will look at the run from a different perspective. I like the idea of having 5 judges and thowing out the highest and lowest. People will always have a problem with judging it is always the case in any sport.
I'm not bashing anyone just answering the questions.....

And btw I also agree with you 100% on your side note. +1
People, as I have disclaimed aplenty before, despite Emrock's allegations I do not claim to know everything, and when I stand corrected or aquire new information on that which my prior opinions were based, I have no problem stating as much.

This year however, I was left saying "Damn, he's a ******* awesome rider!"
His age has nothing to do with his skill. He staight kills it.

Now now, we were all very much on topic before it became a personal attack on me, and if that is done with I would like to get back to the topic as much as any.
Huh? I'm lost..
Yeah that is def true. The kid really is a story in the making--- I don't care much for autobiographies, but if he ever publishes one that's one I sure would pick up.
