I'm no professional, so my advice shouldn't hold too much value.
But from what I've learned... a lot of it has to do with body position. I've found that simple adjustments like where my butt is on the seat or how far my shoulders are from the handlebars really makes a big difference.
I started practicing coasters by doing a quick "half crank", just to get the front end up and then stop pedaling to see how far I could make it before the front dropped, or I needed to pedal in order to stay in the wheelie.
So practice changing around your body position. Obviously learn brake control, so you're not dragging the brakes so hard that you loose forward momentum. And try that half crank technique to get used to finding balance point faster and easier.
Here's a video I posted a few months back. I'm doing a coaster for about 10 seconds near the beginning of the vid. No biggie, but I'm still working on them too. Good luck and post a video if you can!

Re: coasters
The way I've been learning them is to bring the front end up at about mid speed, not fast and not slow, and bring it just under the balance point. Slowly bring the front end to the balance point and try to hold it and when the front end starts to drop, pedal just enough to bring it back up. This has helped me a lot.

Re: coasters
lean back and dont use the brake much.. I hardly use the brake when coastering now.. used to be on it quite heavy but as you get used to it you use less and less..
i also find that going too fast makes me wobble a bit and body position usually goes wrong so the coaster is shorter than it could be.. medium ish speed is better I find. make sure you "settle" a bit before stopping pedalling, make sure you're ready to coaster as it were.. i.e body position right etc.. helps a lot to be ready rather than rushing into it.. you don't need the outright speed if you get everything else rright if that makes sense.
i was playing about the other night doing stand up coasters, fun :YEAH.. wheely sat down, coaster then stand up when you're coastering..
