A new bike for me :)
Well I'm kind of kicking myself because I didn't get a sportbike, I know I would've killed myself, that and it would have been just way too much money for the bike and insurance and ****.
My new bike is a 2005 Jamis Dakar XLT 20th Anniversery Special Edition. I ****ing love it!

It's got Hayes full hydraulic dual piston disk brakes, which are sweet as hell, as well as a full Fox suspension, and SRAM x-7 shifters (27 gears :D ) And to top it all off it has clipless pedals, which are great.

I got them up to like 30-40 feet, I still have to get used to this bike, because it's 6 inches longer than the other, and I have to tune the front suspension for stoppies.

How much does something like that cost?

Re: A new bike for me :)
you guys are going to laugh, $1400.
But I do have some friends on base, and we pile the bikes in his truck and we go downhilling which is a shitload of fun. I feel like a ****in kid though, I really need to get a ****ing grown up's bike, lol.
My record is about 70 feet on the old bike, and that's coming in at 30, lol.

Working on the no handers, the clipless pedals help a lot with that, however my bike is still minty, and I already looped it doing no handers, as well as falling over while surfing, flipped *** over tea kettle from a stoppie, and laid down once in a corner. (Maybe it isn't so minty after all, haha)

but yeah man, get some of them REAL small bar ends, they'll protect your shifters/brake levers in the event of a loop.
most of the other parts should take the abuse though....
clipless pedals? that's no cliped in right?

Re: A new bike for me :)
actually clipless pedals are clipped. There is a special cleat that goes on the bottom of a set of special shoes so you can clip in. I don't know why they called it that, but that's what they did.
Coasters are slowly coming, that bike has such a high balance point, it's going to take me a little bit. I've only had it a week, and now it's in the shop getting tuned up and a brake lever redone.

so, can you pull your feet off if you loop?

Re: A new bike for me :)
yeah i can pull my feet off, it just takes enough pressure from the bike or me pulling to get out, or I can twist my foot a little to get them out. It becomes an instinctive reaction after a while.
