mountain bike wheelies or BMX bike wheelies
I'm almost positive that a mountian bike is better to wheelie!
the tires are larger, usually the brakes are better, and gears to make it easier to come up when going fast! but not as light..
NO BIOST BMX RIDERS TRY TO CONVENCE ME OTHERWISE!

for sitdown wheelies, mountain bike is diffently smoother.
for stand ups, BMX is deffently longer.
I've wheelied both, and perfer my mtn bike over my friends BMX, but i think you can get good on anything

why, yes i did make it. I"m building another, with a much diff design. If you can get your hands on a welder, or know someone who can weld, you could build one too. I could suggest a simple small welder that would work for this applicantion if you want.

mine is made of 16 gauge, 1 inch square steel tubing, and an old bike rack.
Weld a peice of 1 inch pipe to your seat post, at a upward angle. this is to off set the the seat posts backward angle. now extend it back, prolly about 2-3 inchs bigger than your wheel (if you have a 24" make the shaft 26" long, if you have a 26" make it 28-29") now weld a 13 inch long peice of tubing to the shaft sticking off your seat post. Make sure to make more than one weld pass on each, because this has to support your weight. might want to also get some 1/8th flat bar, to brace the area where the shaft and the seatpost met.
you can buy the steel tubing a homedepot or lowe's, in the hardware department. might wanna get a 4 1/2inch grinder while your at it
