I'll rephrase my question as it seems to have gone by unnoticed...

My FZR has an aluminum cover for the tank... the actual tank and airbox sit underneath the tank cover... what method would I use to tank dent the cover? do I need to take it off and dent it seperately... how deep should I dent it, do I need to dent the actual tank underneath (depending on how deep/shallow i need to dent it)... any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Didn't know the 600 had a plastic tank-cover, but I'm pretty sure the 400 is aluminum... it's got a couple of dents (one was there when I bought the bike, and the other I put in a couple weeks ago when I binned it)

The scrapes in the paint look like aluminum underneath, and the resonance from tapping it sounds like metal, not plastic...

anyone ever dent a 06 gixxer tank....? got pics? advice? the one that has half plastic and half metal? ive dented a 02 and a 05 b4, thing ones kinda scares me

whats the best thing to use to shape your tank out....I always use a deadblow hammer (sand in it)?????
