My f4i tank. I just started at the bottom of the cap and worked my way out with a dead blow hammer.

Re: Post Up You Pics Of Your Tank

I did mine today...never did it before...never saw anyone do it...like heard from manny ppl I started at the bottom of the cap, but it just didn't want to smash...then I saw it smashed from sides but it seems that there is some reinforcement (as you can see on the first pic) and I couldn't brake it...then my dad gave me an idea to put the bike under some solid surface and use the little car crane/lift to just push the tank (cap) in. So I lifted the bike on a stand, put a pad on the cap, crane on top, and piece of wood to reach garage doors top (since it is lower than roof, and only solid surface for such thing), and just expanded the car crane slowly...when the forks compressed as much as they could the cap just slowly diped in and the problematic reinforcement broke...

^^ I had the same problem. Go to your local auto store and pick up some permatex. Works great!

Re: Post Up You Pics Of Your Tank

Yeah, My bike wouldn't start last weekend so I had a friend look at it...not only did it leak gas out, it leaked rain water in. I was wondering why I didn't have a puddle of water in my tank after the rain storm. Anyway, he drained the tank and let it dry out, then JB welded the cap. Should be good now....no more gas on my ***.

Thats what you think

Jb weld breaks down in gas..

I used jb weld on my 2 cracks.. Held up for about 2 weeks, now the jb weld is mooshy and gas is seaping out from underneith it..

I got some "seal all" from walmart the other night for $1.99. Says right on it "patch gas cans" "mowers and power tools" and shows pictures of them sealing gas cans and lawn mower gas tanks

I have to disagree

I plugged a hole in my tank with JB weld and it lasted the whole season, then in the winter I had the tank chemically stripped in an acid dip. The only thing lef ton the tank after the scid dip was the JB weld, it was broken down a bit but still there and holding....Maybe you mixed it wrong or had a bad batch
