Re: scraped pipe

dont worry about scraping it until you are rollin em smooth and slow. Scraping will come . Just be patient.I see in your pic that the first thing to leave was your brake foot. Keep your brake covered, dont panic when you hit balance point. Get it on the snap. If not, set it down and try again. If you get in trouble, tap the brake. Thats all for now.

Re: scraped pipe

yeah, the lower the better. I'm small , so I still run fairly low preesure ( even doing circles). Most people run around 8lbs to 12 lbs (personal preferance). What are your gears? Whats your idle set at? There are a lot of good threads on here about slow stuff. Do a search.

Re: scraped pipe

you dont need to shift in a parking lot. 1st gear is all you need. zip tie it or take it off. lol I've done that lots of times!

Re: scraped pipe

ziptie sounds good maybe ill do that. im running a 53 in the rear and a 14 in the front ive only been riding a rocket for about a month i bought it with like a 45 rear and 15 front but i never rode it with the stock sprockets i didnt wanna relearn so i figured i would just learn on bigger sprockets.what should my idle be set at i just got the idle at the stock settings

Re: scraped pipe

you could just always go with a bigger sporket for better balance

Please enlighten us on how a bigger sprocket helps your balance? ...........? As far as idle goes, probably around 3,500 to 4,000 rpms on that bike (zx-6). Remember though, with high idle, you have to pull in your clutch or the bike will take off. But high idle will help you rock them smoother( throttle control for beginners = twitchy!) Take away twitchy and you have smooth!

Re: scraped pipe

Well, you are one step ahead of me at least! As for your peg bracket, don't worry about finding one on E-bay, that is the first thing to break on 6Rs. I bought a salvage 2000, and tried to find one on E-bay for about 3 months before giving up and buying a new one.

As for the cage, I got a FI for 225 shipped...if you need one, let me know, PM me for details!

Glad I found this thread, lots of good info...now when I get my bike out of the shop...look out!
