Re: Tha Alabama Bullshit Thread
An email I just got:
A 1st BCT, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood Soldier was killed in a motorcycle crash on 5 October 2007 at approximately 1645 local in Killeen, Texas. The 24-year-old SPC was riding a borrowed 2006 Honda CBR600 motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve. He veered over a driveway, collided with a brick pillar, and came to rest inside an apartment building. The Soldier was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, although one was attached to the motorcycle. Nor had he completed the required Army-approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course.
A mobilized 1-206th FA, ARARNG Soldier was killed in a motorcycle crash on 6 October 2007 at approximately 2350 local in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The 20-year-old PVT was riding his 2002 Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle when he collided with a 1998 Buick Regal that pulled out in front of him. The driver of the Buick fled the scene and is being charged with negligent homicide. The Soldier was evacuated to a local medical center where he was pronounced dead. He was not licensed, not wearing a helmet, and had not completed the required Army-approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course.
Sucks to hear about these things, but guess who will get to sit through more motorcycle training this weekend...

another story from an older email
A 2nd Recruiting Brigade U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) Soldier was killed in a motorcycle crash on 29 June 2007 at approximately 1415 local in Slidell, Louisiana. The 30-year-old SFC entered the driveway to his residence riding his Suzuki GSXR 1000 <https://crc.army.mil/redirectwithurl...7/Default.aspx> . For undetermined reasons he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the garage door.
Neighbors said he was driving his motorcycle on Alisa Drive to his home at the end of the street shortly before 2:30 p.m. when he swerved to avoid his wife, who was backing her own motorcycle out of the garage.
But in so doing, onlookers said, Strickling hit a nearby elevated sewer cover and smashed through a piece of the garage door, which was open to about shoulder height, and then through an interior garage door and into the house itself.
