busted front fork
I am new to stunting and live in an area where no one knows anything about stunting. I have a gsxr 1000 and busted my front forks coming down from a wheelie. Is there anything I can do to keep that from happening while I am learning. I know not to push the brake hard or come off the throttle anymore but is there something I need to do like ask the shop to tighten my forks or put thicker fork oil. I want to continue but the thought of having to buy more forks really sucks and keeps me from learning to get better on my wheelies. thanks guys

Re: busted front fork
yeah sorry guys, new to this and still learning all the terms and lingo... It was actually a blown seal that leaked oil. Something that small costed almost 200 if I remember. I also lowered my bike, does that make it easier to blow the seal and cause the problem. Think I only lowered it 2 inches. Thanks for the reply...

Re: busted front fork
hey dude...i was riding a christ(feet on tank) and strolled into a ock as large as a car. bent both fork tubes. 200 isn't bad for someone doing the seals and oil over, seals are seal and meant to be replaced as they start to leak oil and spit it at your face upon landings.
try doing fork tubes and seals. not fun. what kinda bike do you have, alot of guys put the 929 froks on the front of the honda F4I's to make em a more stuntable and beatable bike. see how long the seals hold up, if you lowered the bike, look at the area that wipes/squeegies the oil down(dust seal) and see if the chrome fork tube has any scratches on it, it will deteriorate the seal thats under the dust seal and eventually it will leak.
if it's all clean and smooth, then it should be ok given no bends in the tube. that will wear out seals....don't ask me why i know that either hahaha.
good luck and i hope she doesn't spit at you now that it's fixed dude.

Re: busted front fork
no, don't bother....i think using stock oil and just new seals are where it's at for the fix, seals wear out man, fact of stunt life. plus when they build these machines they don't factor in 1,287,837,345,120,475 wheelies being brought down hard or soft within it's lifetime you know.....
i just replaced my fron for tubes, all i did was buy the fork oil,CHEAP, seals x2 CHEAP! and rebuilt the bitches man. like i said , i had the stock seals from 05 in the bike till last year and they didn't leak a drop until i bent the forks under the bike...DUH!!! so take it from a tech, do the seals and oil...forget the springs and go have some fun.
