nina , forged rods are much much stronger than there cast counterparts . between the forging and heat treating processes , they can handle around 10 times the stress that a cast rod will fail at .

The 7.3 was made from the middle of 1999 to the middle of 2003. The late model 7.3L Power Strokes (2001 - 2003) came from the factory with Powdered Metal connecting rods. These rods are manufactured using a different process than traditional forged rods, and are not as strong. The factory PM rods have been known to break with over 400 rear wheel horsepower. Forged connecting rods will allow you to go over 600hp without breaking parts. So basically the 2000 7.3L is the strongest factory engine. I looked for months to find a 2000 7.3l with under 100k miles with 4x4, crew cab, short bed and in red. So I feel you on getting what you want.

Like what?
Nothing needs to be changed on the engines. I can go fill up with 100% biodiesel and my truck will run cleaner, more efficient and put out more power and it can be made without any petrol. I just don't understand why it's not made readily available. Makes me buy into the conspiracy theories about big oil running the show.

Ok, now Ive got a better understand of the forged rods, or some knowledge at all in this case because I had no idea.... thanx for the explination guys

If someone was buying me the truck then id go all out and get whatever.. **** doesnt come that easy. Like you said you spent months looking for the exact truck what you want.... everything down to the exterior colour... because in the end you're the one dropping the loot on the truck ... so thats why im being picky about everything that I want.
