Re: OMR SUBCAGE [subframe cage]
Hauling 56,000 pounds of Mobile Homes from Odessa to Volgograd will earn your driver $3.35 per mile, a total of $2651.24 for the entire route. Your company specializes in this cargo type so you will receive a 5% bonus for delivery. If you are late you will be fined $50.00 per day that you are late.

Frieght train efficiency
If you take the entire loaded weight of a typical freight train and divide it over the amount of diesel fuel it uses…
Freight trains, on average, move one ton of material 423 miles on one gallon of diesel fuel.
I ran across this tidbit, i thought some people here would appreciate it!

ok i know this is gonna sound like a biker boy post but it has been on my mind so im gonna see what you guys think ...i wish niner and three cheetos were here[engineers] ....
every one makes a big deal out of hybrids [cars the run both gas engines and electric motors] why don't they just make cars with a real small light gas or deisel engine that powers electric motors via inverters ???

A frictionless rod of infinate length?
I always figured the loco weighed more than the cars. learn something every day. It seems like they haul way more than 10 cars per loco on the trains I have seen, amtrack excluded.
Don't they have devices that dump sand on the rail just infront of the wheels for traction?

I think once biodiesel plants start getting bigger and more common the price of diesel should be less than gasoline again. There is no easy replacement for gasoline and ethanol is a scam.

Re: OMR SUBCAGE [subframe cage]
That's what hydrogen fuel cell cars do. Simple answer is efficiency losses. Anytime you convert one type of energy to another you lose some energy in the form of heat. (if inverters were 100% efficient they wouldn't get warm). P.S. they are workin on the fuel cells, also if you have a BSME and want to work on fuel cell cars my friend's department is looking for a couple engnineers.

I meant making it in your garage. You know what pisses me off? The gas station on MI ave that has a sign that says "biodiesel the fuell of the future", but you go to the pump and it is stickered as ULSD. I think I am going to turn them in to the state of MI for false advertising or misleading consumers.
A report on cnn the other day talked about the price of diesel, a major oil company admitted it is cheaper to make than gas, supposedly diesel should be back to cheaper than 87 within the next 2 years - but gas could be $7 then so it's all relative lol

Oil companies are going to be the next big business scandal/investigation.

Re: OMR SUBCAGE [subframe cage]
I am not spending the time or money making it ..... I would rather go to the station 10 minutes from work and fill up on some B100, save money because it's cheaper than dinodiesel and because it's not ulsd there is suppose to be more lubricity so you don't need to buy additives either. I am going to go there my next fill up and benchmark how she runs, what mpg I am getting etc ..... Even if the bio is $4.70 a gallon I would rather give my money to a local bd company than the ******* speculators and opec

Sand isnt used that much anymore but back in the day it was standard. now days locos arent as compact as they used to be and they have more drive wheels.
