Re: dont start no shait
Here is a post made by Kane on Stunt Ride .com might help some people.
Sponsorship isnt about free **** too me.. theres a few things I look for in a sponsor.
1) having a company stand behind you, represent you, and promote you is very important to me.
the sponsors character, notariety, and respect play big roles in that as well.
2)mutually beneficial - what they can do for me, and what I can do for them, and how we can collaborate to make a happy medium so that neither of us get screwed.
3) Friendship - Contract - Support - Cash/Salary - Contingency - Publicity - Signature Product - Dealer Resale - Per Event Help - What their Goals are - What their opinions and hopes for my sport are
those are all things that I approach EVERY sponsor/potential with and stnad behind.
NOTE:
Legion looks good out there, anyone wanting sponsorship SHOULD, make yourself, your bike, your rig, your gear, your website (its 2006 already if your site is wack.. means you are wack) have everything up-to-date clean and looking good out there to represent yourself, your team and your sponsors to the fullest. FMF Racing INSISTS that I have a NEW and clean can on at EVERY event. doesnt mean they just send me 30 cans.. no its my job to make sure that my can is prepped... either rebuilding it at the event, or replacing it and returning my damaged can to them to swap out. they would be highly upset if my can was sub-par and made the cover of a magazine like that.. make sense?
its a 2 way street, each new sponsor means a new work load.. DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT just accept a sponsor (little company or big) just to get free product or whatever then ***** out on em and never keep them up to date with, everything that is a proffessionals job. it hard to baby sit, monthly check ins, including photos, video, press as well as constantly keeping them notified of your next event and what you are doing for them.
Takes me 2 days after every event to do just that.. add in the fact that I have some 25-30 events this year and your talking... a ... Job?! who woulda thought!
poor paying job at that! haha..
Fish was right.. have a nice Promo pack ready to go.. confidence on the phone, and try to at least sound like you know what your talking about..![Smilie](https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
