Re: finally got my new sprockets

Just curious why did you go with a 17 up front? Why not stay with stock or go to a 15 even.

I got a 16 front and 56 rear---not too bad of a setup--I just need to practice more--

Re: finally got my new sprockets

Quick question, on all my bikes so far I've just done the generic -1 +3, I just picked up a 636 though and I love the look of a big *** rear sproket. I know the -1 +3 is like +6, but what is the point of going down in the front. I was thinkin' of just goin' like +6 in the back, is there any reason I shouldn't?

Re: finally got my new sprockets

The difference is that going down in front increses torque. This can be good or bad. I started with -2 +18 on my 750, but soon after changed to -1 and it was less twitchy and smoother/easier to control.

I only reccommend going down in the front if you are using a smaller cc bike and need to compensate.

Otherwise, down in front adds torque and up in rear slows down tire rotation and powerband speeds.

Re: finally got my new sprockets

So what would you guys reccomned for a 636...I'm not too into slow stuff, but I want to be able to bring it up in third easily, and make it a little easier in second...I mean don't get me wrong, I can clutch it up fine in second with the stock gearing, I just want more room to play...

I have +5 rear on my 636 and it's a joke. I'm still learning and I can bounce it up in 2nd easy. I haven't tried 3rd yet. Not sure where to start?
