Re: who makes a crash cage for a 99 zx-9r???

I know for a fact that Racing905 makes it, they made me one for my ZX9R.
Actually I just returned a spare one to them that I had in the garage after I sold the bike. You will have some fairing modification to do for a cage on the ZX9R.
Also FI didn't make them when I talked to Tim and there was no plans to ever make one for this bike. Things may have changed, but that is what he told me at the time which was why I looked elsewhere.
Other suppliers, not sure.
You need more info, let me know.

the mounts on that bike are very small, i was going to build one this weekend but i figured one crash and your frame is going to get fuked up bad. i wouldnt recomend a cage for this bike and i make cages. youre better off getting some extended sliders

Your right, they are smaller than some others, but why does that make extended frame sliders a better choice?
Don't you think that the energy of a fall would be dispersed better with a cage that has multiple mount points versus an extended frame slider with one single point of impact?

Re: who makes a crash cage for a 99 zx-9r???

I have a cage in my garage. 905 made it for me for my 96, but pulled a 98 in the shop by accident and built it off of that. If you want it, PM me........

i would think the force of the slider hitting would most likely be and upward force...which would cause the bolt to break instead of the frame.

with a cage, the impact is pretty much directed to the frame of the bike, specifically the mounting points. the impact is a direct impact because the cages disributes all the force equally..in theory at least.

hope this makes sense

i personally would only put those mushroom sliders on if anything, but they would be useless for a stunter, only a knee dragger.
