Another R6 Question!!!!!

Another R6 Question!!!!!
I have an 04 R6 and i keep dropping it
I'm getting pretty good at 1st gear sitdowns and standups. I need to start protecting my bike.
Better late than never right. I want to buy a crash cage but don't know which to get a freestyle ing. or a 905?
I don't want frame sliders cuz those don't protect the clutch or engine casing and those have had enough abuse.
I'm pretty sure an 03 cage will fit my 04. Do i have to drill a hole into my fairing for either of those?

Re: Another R6 Question!!!!!
You're gonna have to shave off some of the plastic on the left side to get to the mounts. I would go with a freestyle. You and my boy should get together. He's a pro at destroying perfectly good brand new 04 R6's. You'd get along very well! He's good at loopin gixxers too!!

Re: Another R6 Question!!!!!
I've heard the F.I. cage tends to damage ur frame due to the sliders on high speed crashes, but it holds up good on slow stuff...Personally i'm thinkin' of gettin' an mxd or powerz cage, supposedly they are easier on ur chins...

Thats fine i'm not going to be doing any 6th gear wheelies thats how people get hurt. I'm going to lear BP in first and then move to second or start messing with sprockets. I'll check out those others thanx

Before i broke my F.I cage, evertime i would lay it down, the sliders would tend to make the bike roll over enough to scuff the tank.
Now i have a 929 with a 905 and that sh*t HOLDS!
I have never broke anything. And i've layed that thing over a lot!

I have an 04 R6 aswell, i was just wondering if putting the cage on the bike would effect my handeling at all. I mean, would I be able to get as low in the turns like i normaly would?

Do you know anything about those powerz cages they look nice I think it's supposed to protect better than a 905

Re: Another R6 Question!!!!!
SilverstuntedR6.. '03/'04 are identical. Getting a cage is a smart choice.
The 905 is great @ taking impacts and NOT breaking the frame, however, the cage can and will break on its welds. It will shift around and bend. Ive gone through 2. Both 1st and 2nd designs 905 put out. Also, the cage tends to allow the bike to roll over on top of itself, breaking levers, uppers, clipons etc. Loved my 905's, but I moved on to MXD.
Havent really tested it yet, but I will say this.. its freakin' huge! It looks more sturdy, but its butt ugly. I'm pretty sure on both 905 and MXD you will have to cut the lower side fairing, BUT, you might be able to take that lower off and just leave the quarter panel and not cut anything.
Havent run a FI, but hands down they look the best, cant speak for their ability to hold up.
Powers look good, I know some people with them and they never complained or had to buy new ones.
I have a 2nd Generation R6 I'm parting out, hit me up if you need anything. Good luck.
