Re: amatuer stunt comps?!?!?

Not trying to be a dick here but just wait till you get to a comp. Todays amature stunters are (the majority) crazy *** riders who will blow your mind with the insane stuff they pull. You will ask yourself "how the hell can these people be alowed to ride in this class" but it don't mater because the class will be made up of 90 "pro" and 10 auctual amature riders so nothing is done about it. Ever here the term "cherry pickin" well your sure to see it soon enough. When I went to my first comp I almost said f*ck this I ain't got a chance, But then said f*ck it and just rode. All in all it had to be one of the most kick *** times I have ever had, for the most part the riders are all willing to help you out with tips, advice, tools or whatever you may need. The first comp I was at I just kept to myself and said nothing to nobody after the second one I totally regreted that. I learned so much more by just talking to to some fellow stunters. Good luck to you and maybe we can compete together at the next Stuntrageous in upstate NY. Later on..............JK............ www.theuprightsstuntteam.com

They pretty much all do but the problem is when there is nobody there with the ***** to stand up and tell the majority of the riders that they dont belong in the am. class. In the end the only ones it hurts are the guys that trully are amature.

the biggest thing that would eliminate that would be (unfortunately) to eliminate pay outs in the am class. Then there wouldn't be any "cherry picking" because it's true a lot of people that should ride pro don't...for whatever reason. If just trophies were awarded in the am class then that would force more people to ride in the pro class where they should be anyway. I'd much rather do ok in the pro calss than win the am class I know I've heard a lot of other riders say the same thing.

I agree with vertical frank 100%. I'd rather do ok pro then kick *** in amateur. Funny thing is at the lsbb last year, there were some pro's in the amateur class that didn't even get in the top 5 let alone win. lol

Re: amatuer stunt comps?!?!?

here is the solution:

in 2005 as stated previously, we are working hard to re-establish USFreestyle and its' sanctioning body for all freestyle aspects of comps. there will be no such thing as Amateur or Pro, there will only be individual freestyle. If you want a chance at the money, you will enter; if not, sit and watch.

amateur vs pro is foolish, there is no way to even distinguish and we all knwo there are plenty of sandbaggers out there. it would also help if promoters (and most of them are on board for 05) would eliminate payouts for amateurs. amateurs win trophies, pros should win the money.

stay tuned

I wouldn't even consider myself near ready to compete, but I totally agree. I would like to compete someday, but I wouldn't be competing for money, it would just be for the fun of it. I also think that the idea of a true amateur event would bring a lot more guys in to compete, they wouldn't be so intimidated.

It's just like any other sport, amateurs only get trophies, once you win prize money that makes you a pro.

Right on!

This is a huge on-going issue in roadracing...now w/ stunt-competitions/payouts it is hitting the stunting community.

Teach is right...as long as there is easy money in amateur, you will always have sandbaggers.
No money to make(???), all of a sudden everyone WANTS to be a "Pro"
