hell yeah.. you can pick up racebikes cheap. First thing is first, if its got a penske shock and or re-valved front end, pull em and sell em on the bay. Depending on the bike, you can get around a grand for the forks and shock. A stock shock will run you about 30 bucks and forks 2-300.

If the motor is built you might have some problems. You will have to run race gas if the head has been decked. Pump gas will kill the motor dead.. fast. Also built motors will overheat alot quicker and usually dont have fans on the radiator so slow stuff is out of the question until you put a fan on. The most important thing is not to run pump gas. Dyno the bike and if it puts out good numbers, throw it on the bay with pics of the dyno sheet and get a stocker.

Other than that race bikes are usually good to go. If you get a real one it should already have all the goodies you need like aftermarket case covers, steel lines, race clipons, a damper, etc.

Sounds like alot of work but if you get a good bike at a good price you can end up making a great stunter *VERY* cheap.

Just haggle your *** off with em. When people sell racebikes its usually because they are hurting for cash or they are upgrading to a newer model and need the money quick to throw down on the new bike. Ask what mods were done to the engine. Try to get one that hasnt been decked if you can. If they have put in different cams or cam sprockets be prepared for it to drop a valve. Ask if the bike was used for sprints or endurance racing, if it was an endurance bike lowball em cause the motors in those bikes dont usually have much life left in em at the end of the season.

Try to get a bike thats all tricked out. ALWAYS sell the suspension. For example, a penske triple adjustable shock for a gixxer will sell for over $400 bucks most of the time and you wont be able to tell the difference between that shock and a stocker for stunting purposes. The only thing I would keep is the steering damper and vortex or woodcraft clipons, cause if you break or bend one you just have to replace the bar and you are out 10 bucks instead of 30-50 and they are longer and more adjustable so you can get some of the advatages of dirtbike bars without the ugly looks.
