Engine life span and precautions (Kawi ZX636RR)
Hey all!
I'm on the hunt for a stuntbike. I'm looking at a Kawasaki ZX636RR. It's already wrecked but chassi (frame, forks, wheels etc) is intact and appear straight.
Now, I've only owned an old *** ZXR400 from the Kawasaki family. That bike had issues with the valve. It sounded like a diesel engine sometimes!
So my question is about the reliability of the engine and how strong the rear frame is.
Are there cages and bars already made for these bikes that I can purchase on the internet and ship to Sweden? Would appreciate some links! thx
Well, please share your opinion/experience/facts on the ZX636RR.
Thank you!

I thought I've heard it all, but that's one I'll probably never hear again.
What did you do to make them think you were a terrorist?

cbo stunts the 636 and i believe he likes it so much that he bought another one to be streeter... as far as i know he's had no real engine problems but not for sure... give him a pm and see what he thinks... i know everyones bitchin' 'bout how fragile the upper headlight assembly is... but if your gonna' streetfighter it then it don't really matter...

Yo, I got your pm and I would gladly post my comments about the 636.
I love the bike and have never had problems with it and I have had 2 of them the first one I wrecked and sold because of money problems but went and bought another just 2 months after. I wrecked this one again and it was pretty bad but the bike itself held together and nothing was really wrong with it except the upper fairing got broken. I managed to walk away with some pretty bad RR but you live and learn. Both side fairings and back fairing where fine because of my cage and 12 bar.
I put a www.powersbikeworx.com cage on it and have been extremely happy with it and the cage has saved me thousands of dollars litteraly LOL...in my mind the 636 is the best way to go for the cheapest if you wanna stunt. I geared mine -1 +2 and I have no problems 12'ing or going fast the bike has sooo much damn power for a 600 its amazing. I have never blown a engine or even had to replace the clutches and all I do is clutch up wheelies LOL. Breaks are awesome for endos, the reversed suspension makes for a good ride and softens the blow when coming down to hard from a 12 heheh. I have also heard that the bike has some special oil thing in it that prevents it from messing up when 12'ing or something, my friend LB3 told me about that so thats another +

Re: Engine life span and precautions (Kawi ZX636RR)
On the upper headlight assembly I just made my own at my friends shop. He manufactured me a better fairing stay that was made out of steel and the lights screwed into it. It was pimp until I wrecked on the freeway or rather 12'd going down the exit ramp LOL and then lost control and became street pizza. The bike flipped about 3 times and it only took me 20 min to get it in street riding condition again haha. I should take a pic of it to show everyone its funny. We bought these fog lights from Oreily's and hooked them up. They are brighter than stalk lights LOL

Re: Engine life span and precautions (Kawi ZX636RR)
i'd be interested in seeing your fabricated fairing stay...
636 is great for stunting, needs a couple things to make it bullet proof...cam chain tensioner is going early in one of mine...great bike, highly recommend.

Re: Engine life span and precautions (Kawi ZX636RR)
I rode the 636 for a total of about 8 hours in France
The bike was pretty new
Decent for stunting but very underpowerd down low and yet over powerd in the higher reves.
I did not have a dampner it rolls decent stoppies somewhat stable, just a bit of headshake
The last show the arm that drives the clutch hub (where the cable hooks on to down buy the motor) snaped clean in half on me -- thank god it wasent while I was doing a rev limiter coaster, watch out for that though it could be a problem on all of them.
Gixxer 1000 is where its at!!!
