turbocharged ducati 748 am i crazy?
i have a turbocharger off a 96' VW passat TDI on my 98' ducati 748 vtwin
8psi boost, 11.5:1 compression ratio
im thinking about selling turbokits...anyone be interested? im talkin cheap like used turbo's off old cars that are still in good cond, or buy new turbos for an extra added price or something...custom headers turbo scoops for your plastics? like the whole package for $1000-$1500 full instructions, pictures, everything..maybe a video to watch?
let me know ur input on this...

yea id have to put a disclaimer or soemthing...
offer discounted rebuild's or ship them another one and rebuild the one they send back...i mean hell thats a CHEAP turbo package...if you just want a little bit of boost without haveing to change the compression ratio.l..
i want to be the one to start the clan/fad of turbo bikes...all u stunters would hear a big hiss of air and a big pssshtt!!! when u switch gears for wheelies!

heh ill be the biggest pimp when i goto MMI in a few weeks, pull up to my apartments with the bike in the closed trailer, have a cover over it inside...unload my **** to the apartment, people prolly think oh well its just another suzuki or something...
ill goto the orentation with my mom and the bike in the trailer, after the orentation as everyone is leavin ill open the trailer rip the cover off and back it out, that **** will catch a few eyes being a SEXY BRIGHT yellow ducati 748 in MINT!!! condition....
ill start it up might get a few looks as they hear the slight hiss of the intake..people prolly think its a pos ducati that needs work or has an airleak or something...
ill rev it up alittle so people her the insane hiss and kinda look, not letting the rpm's get over 3000...then ill let her rip up to like 7000rpm's and back off the throttle so everyone hears a loud PSSHTT!!! its more of a big pop than a psst..
people will wonder wtf that **** is and keep watchin ill look around get on it and let her warm up givin her a steady 3000-3500 rpm let her warm up for like 5 min or so get the oil in the turbo pumpin...maybe get a few people to come over and see wtf is up with my bike
prolly have a few people see if they can help me fix my "air leak" (ive' been getting that lot since i got the turbo epople think i have an airleak..its pretty funny)
i explain to them i have a 1 of a kind ducati 748 and i rev the engine and hold it at 6500 rpm let the turbo get wound up nice and good then back off the throttle and let the suckers hear the turbo spool down...thats a sexy sound in itself...ill turn on the indiglow on the boostgauge (which is bright neon yellow)
they see the boost gauge (if they havent noticed its got a turbo by now they will now heh) ill tell em all i got a ****** turbocharged ducati 748 thats in MINT!!! condition baby!!!
then word will spread to everyone that there is some crazy **** attending mmi with a turbocharged ducati rollin around, ill do a nice wheelie out of the place and go through a gear or to so they hear my hks super seq blow off valve ;P

seems reliable enough so far...im running 5psi boost with stock compression 11.5:1, i plan on lowering the compression when i move to arizona and running 10psi boost...if you want a turbokit for your bike drop me a private message and ill conjour something up for ya...prolly cost $1000-1500 for the entire kit
hell maybe less....never know, i plan on makeing tubrokits for ducati's and sellin em so hit me up

provided i got the custom headers and all the schematics worked out right...you can use low boost depending on the cc size and compression ratio...past that its pretty darn easy to install....

How bad is the lag ?
Tuning ?
Can the motor take that kind of abuse ?
Just kinda curious...I think it would be badass, but depending on the lag, itm ight suck *** for lower speed stunnin.

lag is barely there you cent even tell theres much of a lag... since its such a smallll turbocharger, its off a 96 VW passat TDI
if you run LOW psi like 5 and under...no problems with stock compression, but if you wanan go higher you will need to lower the compression a little (increase the headgasket thickness...)

Did you do anything to retard your timing? it's real ruff on your pistons and valves if you don't. Is this a blow thru system through the throttle bodys or carbs or did you find a different way to pipe in the boost???

ive been told you dont need to retard the timeing because its such low boost...
5psi boost its nothing, and what i did was made a plenum to fit over the throttle bodies, with a bov just before the plenum..all works pretty nice i guess
