Re: ????????, Bullshit

I really hope this doesn't happen to our "sport" but here is what I've noticed that may be holding us back a little:
Our sport is slowing down. Literally. Our sport, with the exception of long stoppies, is being geared down, slowed down and hand-braked. It seems like the only extreme sports that get off the ground are the ones that do in fact, get off the ground. As long as the wow-factor is decreasing, so will the support from big name sponsors.
BMX flatland freestyle and old-school freestyle skateboarding (rodney mullen type ****) is technical as hell, but couldn't be capitalized on by attracting big crowds like the vert does.
So here's the answer:
Big air=big sponsors
No air=suffocation followed by death.

the problem with that is that everyone is worried about impressing other riders, this is like beating a dead horse, we all know this but for some reason no one is changing anything

i agree, once you watch a few people rock out slow stuff you've seen it all, you def. need some speed and combos, dopnt get me wrong slow stuff is still cool, but you need to mix it up a bit, dont make your whole run slow

Well said,I totally agree.Combos are were its at when it comes to impressing the public. It seems like you can rock circles, combos, and what ever other technical trick you got up your sleeve. Then somebody else can come out there and smoke a tire till it pops ,and what do you know it seems like he gets all of the credit. I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND

Re: ????????, Bullshit

This is so true are slow wheelies gonna be the death of out sport honestly slow wheelies look cool for about 2 min and circles about another 2 min but all U ****** make it look so easy I watch everyone and I impressed as hell cause I know how much work it takes to rock a circle they dont know that it took u 3 months to rock it slow and another 4 months to rock circles. High speed **** look more apealing to the spectators combos smokey *** burnouts tires poping Long *** stoppies rockin it on the front wheel at 100 mph 973 feet "ask Crammer how many times hes gotten laid just because hes a stoppie " **** looks bad *** I agree with the statement about riding just to impress other riders were really here for the crowd the more people we can get to shows the farther this sport will go. After a show or when people find out what I do the first thing they ask is can U do that thing where U put it up on the front wheel. I think about this alot.

Re: ????????, Bullshit

in order to get to the x games just liek all u guys said we need to make our tricks look hard to do , or liek they take big *****. a hc wheelie or spreader at 80 down the hw with cars looks crazier than a circle. see to people whor dumb we have big bicylces with engines, its like" how cant u wheelie?" which is y fmx has taken off , cux it looks hard to jump 80 ft and twist ur body. rather than a circle , cuz they dont see the throttle control, brake control, body position, and that"feeling in ur stomach " u get when ur that vertical, or how the slightest thing can **** u up.

Taht's hilarious..I was stunting my fiddy the other day in fornt of my neighbor (15 yeas old) and he's like "Yeah, it's easy when all you gotta do is twist that throttle, I can do REAL wheelies"

He challenged me to ride a bmx wheelie, and I did a 3 inch wheelie that was nearly followed by an ambulance ride...damn I'm old...

its about making it look fun and easy.........

if you make it look fun people will watch. If you make it look like you are doing it for the love of the sport people will watch. Too many people wanna come on here and portray this gangsta image and that just aint gonna cut it. Too be able to do certain tricks is one thing. Do be able to ride the bike and make it look effortless in everyway possible is a whole other level

Re: ????????, Bullshit

I've always compared this sport to flatland bmx.. I dont see it being anything but a bastard stepchild of another major sporting competiton for years to come.

I have to say i think you hit it right on the head of the nail , i sk-8 ed all my child hood life and the freestyle dident last long and it just wasent as fun to watch as the street or the vert was , and its its like now its cool as hell to wtach the 1st 3 ftp's or the the 1st L V Extremes with all the long wheelies and diff kinds of wheeles on the highways all the burnouts . long rollies etc now we can stunt in a parking lot kinda diff from what it use to be about 3 years ago .its all very technical and i cant do any of the slow **** ,so i am not knocking any one for it but even in with my guys a few of em love the slow **** and my self i like the fast on the high way **** just my
