rear hand brake
ok ok ok.
i just installed a hand brake for my rear brake on my 900rr. but i might have a prob but i dont know.
i feel like i have to pull the lever too much to lock up the rear wheel.
my **** just dont feel like my front brake lever and i adjusted my lever so its getting the most fluid pushed to the rear on a full pull(its on 6)
if im rollin and im sittin down i can let off the gas and pull the lever all the way and i can lock the rear up but if im in first gear on the gas i cant stall the bike out?
if any one has one and can help me (darius, digity) out!
i just feel it should be stiffer on the lever

make sure it's bled right, bleed it off the bike with the lever at the highest point, if it's just not working enough try running new pads or something?? It takes sometime to get used to.

Re: rear hand brake
Its in the bleeding most of the time. Turn the master cylinder/lever assy right side up so the resivoir is on top. If you bleed it upside down you will get air trapped. Also make sure the bleed screw on the caliper is at it's highest point when bleeding.

got the bleeding of the brake done and had mad mad mad rear brake power!
only used it like 5 times and i was going to the gas station yesterday and i was riding like a *** and pulled the hand brake to lock up the rear wheel and then.............................snap
the hole rear brake bracket broke off the wheel and i had 2 calipers dangling in my wheel and i was going down the highway............scary **** man!
my setup was 2 stock rear brake and brackets off a 900
i cut and welded the 1 to the stock bracket so i didnt have to cut both brackets
the dam thing split the hole in the bracket that the axel goes thru in half and ripped the part that slides into the swing arm off the factory uncut bracket.
i guess im gonna have to brace the 2nd caliper to the swingarm so it helps take alot of the rotating force off of the bracket.
i figure i should post this up cause this could have been deadly if i was going fast and the calipers got caught in the wheel!
the WELDS DIDNT BRAKE the original bracket broke from the added stress and fatigue.
ill post up my new setup and hopefully find a way to saftey wire my calipers just incase this happens again
again ALL THE WELDS WERE PERFECT AND MY BRACKET AND BRAKE SYSTEM WERE 100%
THESE MODS WERE NOT HALFASS WE ALWAYS GO OVER THE BIKE TO MAKE SURE ITS 100%
this just goes to show what can happen with stock pieces when they are stressed
