Who uses just sliders to stunt?

Well I can't afford a cage and I was looking at building one myself. I put some bmx pegs on yesterday and they look plenty long enough to keep the covers from hitting... though i haven't laid it over yet to check. Anyways I've seen some people in vids that only have sliders doing 12's and stuff. Who here stunts with sliders only and no cage? Have ya had ok results?

Re: Who uses just sliders to stunt?

I ran bmx pegs for sliders on my GSXR and they worked okay, but I welded some bushings on them to fit in the recesses in the frame. I also had sliders made that fit in the outsides of the pegs.
If you want my opinion, just get a cage. You say you can't afford it but it will pay for itself. if you go down hard on the left and bend your crank, you'll wish you'd bought the cage.
cage: $300
motor: $1000+
think about it...

www.verticalmischief.com then go to stunter sliders, i ran these up until a month ago, worked fine, but bent lots of bolts, something always has to give in a crash.

Very true, but i'm in college and summer has just started to so truely have like less than $100 to my name. I put bmx sliders on for now and i've just been trying to learn 1st gear wheelies and skitching, rolling burnouts. I wondered if a cage was worth it since I have seen people running just sliders. But i will probably get a cage in a few weeks when i get some dough.... I somewhat wonder how bad i need a cage right now though. I'm not trying to scrape or anything, just basic tricks for now.

i started with just sliders and they work if you crash just right. Other than that they don't work the bolt will just bend and there goes your side cover. Then you have to pay 300 to get your bike running. Then comes another 300 for the cage you should have bought in the first place. I got a cage in february and has more than paid for itself already. Eat pb and j for a couple weeks and buy a cage.

Yeah dude, do yourself a favor and buy or weld up a cage. You will be pissed when something dumb happens and you break your stator cover. Not the money it costs to get a new one, but the time you are out of riding. just do it the right way first. yes i dont have a cage, yes my **** is broken right now.

You could also try those ramen noodles. They're like 10 for a dollar. IMO you don't really need a cage right now since you're just learning first gear wheelies.
