Just got a 929...

Just got me a 929 2 days ago. Its a badass bike. I was using my 03 gsxr750 as my stunt bike but it wasn't holding up well. So I got a 929 from hearing lots of good **** about it here. It came with this crappy tire that wont do stoppies period, it just slides all over the place. On my 750 I can do stoppies for days and I use the pilot. Since I need to get new front tire for the 929 I was wondering what was the best tire to run on it. Another thing is its like starting from the begining because on my 750 I can stunt like a maniac but it sounds wierd, I can barely do a lame *** wheelie on the 929. WTF! I had my 750 geared -1 +7 should I gear the 929 because right now its stock, I thought with the power increase I wouldn't have a problem, so whats the recomended gearing? Also any other tips for hooking up a 929 for stunting I really appreciate. I will have more ?'s later for you guys. Thanks

Re: Just got a 929...

ya, not to be a dick but use the search button. Kinda why there is a lot of junk on stuntlife that is repeated like 20 cage questions and stuff. There was HUGE thread on tires like 2 weeks ago that would pop up. i think consenses on that showed pilot sport works best.

and on the 929, cage a cage, if you slam it down hard without one, you'll chunk the motor. definatel get a damper, and also, gearing makes a huge difference. goign from a 1 and 7 to stock. also, honda and suzuki ride completely different....it'll take a while to get used to it.

Re: Just got a 929...

the first trick I tried when i first got my 929 was a stoppie! (no helmet)

I use to have a ZX7-R and WOW, it was an entire solar system of difference haha

929s are f**king dope!!! I payed $5,600 cash, and already had two offers to sell it for $6,200 and $6,000 haha. I know I should probably sell it but I want to ride it for a while first....then I will see if I still feel like selling it.

WEll i know several guys that ride them, Joe Brown rocks his -2 +5 and Nags rides his +7 stockl front. but those specs are about the same. i hear thats about the best gearing so ya con rock some slow **** but still have plenty of power to outrun the popos. I got the 954 and its stock, and nags can rock it no handers and **** at 5 mph. its crazy.

Re: Just got a 929...

1 down 10 up puts me at 146 rev limiter 6th gear. so that's what, 20mph off top speed? also, that's using a gps. I would say drop another 20 mph off top speed....so you'll be somewhere like 115-120ish with that gearing.

here ina couple weeks i'll have my 20 up so i'll be 1 down 20 up, i'll check with my gps to see.

and the brakes are awsome on 929's, but they get bad headshake. Get a damper and tighten it all the way down. I've went down twice hard because of headshake on my 929...i never get it on anyother bike i stoppy.

YES GET A DAMPER AND MAKE SURE WETPAVEMENT ISNT AROUND> I had a scotts on mine and loved it then IT got stolen by someone *cough* and now im only doing stoppies like 50 feet and when i get anywhere near balance point it wants to shake and tank slap. The 929 954 willl tank slap while they key is turned off for gods sake. lol
