dam that sucks. hope the kids are ok. I mean come people, if people are that close you got to look at what could happen, something can always go wrong. You dont do that **** in parades for that reason, if they want to see it they can setup a place for a show.

that really sucks. it's hard to tell by the description if the guy was experienced or just some punk doing a power wheelie and lost control.

Cycle mishap injures 3 kids at Freddy Fixer Parade
William Kaempffer , Register Staff 05/17/2004
NEW HAVEN — A motorcycle doing a wheelie during the Freddy Fixer Parade shot into the crowd, seriously injuring three children Sunday.
"I just saw it (the motorcycle) heading for the crowd and I saw the crowd separating and I was hoping they would get out of the way," said witness Cheryl Corey, sobbing in her curbside chair.
"It started flipping and it just went right into the crowd. The kids probably never saw it coming — I brought my whole family here. It could have been us."
Two of the children, a 9-year-old boy and his 11-year-old sister, were in critical condition Sunday.
Police said the boy, Pat Millinghouse, suffered serious injuries to his head and neck. He took the brunt of the impact.
His sister, Amy Walker, and their friend, Lyntina Cook, 11, also were struck. Police said the siblings were visiting from New York. Cook was in serious condition.
The motorcyclist, Malvin Howard, 24, of Hartford, was not injured. Howard was initially taken into police custody, but no charges had been filed against him as of late Sunday.
People from the Yale Child Study Center came to the scene to offer counseling in case children were traumatized after witnessing the accident.
People along the parade route said Howard was doing a stunt on his Suzuki racing bike when he fell off the back. The bike began flipping end over end and then careened into the crowd.
Frantic witnesses tried to apply pressure to the young boy’s wounds. Two of the children were unconscious, witnesses said.
Crime scene tape blocked off the section of Dixwell Avenue at Harding Place. Pieces of the yellow bike were scattered on the roadway.
For about an hour, the driver of the motorcycle sat in the rear of a squad car, still wearing his helmet.
Witnesses said he was riding with the Flaming Knights motorcycle club.
Scores of bikers from several different clubs participated in the parade. Throughout the route, young people on all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes sped up and down Dixwell Avenue.
Before the crash, a few motorcyclists were scolded by police for spinning tires or doing wheelies along the route.
This is the second time in three years the parade has been marred by tragedy. In 2002, Ky’ell Sesler, 21, was shot to death during a fight on Dixwell Avenue just as the parade stepped off.

That sucks bad man . . . that can definately put a hamper on trying to put on local shows at little events in your town . . . its a classic case of a drunk driver, of course he escaped all injury and was fine . . . watch a guy like that get off with a careless driving ticket and I get a wreckless for doing 85 in a 70 . . .

There was no organization there what-so-ever. There was kids on quads and dirtbikes wheeling past cops thru intersections.. There where 1000's of bikes there and tons of people doing dumb ****. Keep in mind this "parade" was held on Whalley ave. the busiest street in new haven.. I say "parade" because this is like no parade you've ever seen. All it was, was a bunch of straight up thugs on bikes..
