Standing On Seat/tank.....help

Hey Guys, The Other Day I Thought I Would Try To Stand Up On My Seat. I Wasn't Going That Fast Cuz I Wanted To Get A Fell For It First.....i Threw It In Neutral Put My Feet Up On The Seat, But As Soon As I Let Go Of The Bars I Got Bad Head Shake......so I Bot Back Down. I Don't Have A Steering Stabalizer And Have A 00 R1....2 Questions.....should I First Get A Stabalizer Before Attempting This, Or Are People Rockin This Without A Stabalizer....also, Do You Guys Throw It In Neutral, Or Just Roll In Gear?? Thanx

What kind of shape is your front tire in? If your front is getting choppy from wheelies or hard street riding it will get head shake like that. Your problem may just be a shot skin.
And you can also try to turn your idle up some before your gonna stand up, just go a little at first. This way if you fall your bike won't be doin 65 down the road unmaned.
Good luck

The faster your rollin, the easier it will be, HOWEVER the risk increases. Personally I leave the bike in gear to keep momentum of direction to help balance. I put the choke on to keep the revs up, but a throttle lock would work much better. The only downside is if you fall off with the bike in gear, its gonna keep going.

if you wanna get comfy standing on the tank, you can have a buddy ride the bike, while you stand just to get a feel for it....

Do You Guys Have A Steering Stabalizer On The Bike? Does It Make That Much Of A Difference?

Sorry, missed that part - I have no stabalizer, but I certainly think it would help alot.

I certainly don't know anyone who would ever agree to that. There is also a thread in the help/how to forum called "Christs?" which might help you.
When I USED to enjoy doing this trick, I had no damper and I clicked it into neutral.

That way if you fall off, at least you can still ride the bike home.......anyways, its a played out trick. The only time you see it nowadys, is two-up stuff or elevators...
