Any opinions on the comparison of these two bikes.

I never really had any problems with my 02 R1, had a blast on it, but they tend to duckwalk quite a bit in highway wheelies, just gotta get used to it...never had to gear it for slow stuff either, felt real good...I would'nt get one older than an 02 though, if your gonna stunt it.
Gixxer1k, love it...downsides, weak subframe....needs to be reenforced

Re: GSXR 1000 vs R1

I Have An 00 R1- Just Getting Started On Stuntin, But I Love The Bike. If Your Talkin About The 04 Then I Would Go With The R1. My Buddy At Work Has The New Gsx, And Another Has The New R1. Both Are Nice, But At The Races The Other Weekend A Dude Raced A Bone Stock Brand New R1 With The Factory Rear Fender Still On, And He Came In 11th Or 15th Place, I Forget, And That Was Against Factory Bikes.....i Know That This Story Is About Racing And Not Stuntin, But It Still Kicks ***!!!

Oh Yea, To Matt: Why Did You Say You Wouldn't Stunt An R1 Older Than An '02?

I own an '02 R1 and have ridden plenty of GSXR 1000's and althought they are both great bikes if you mainly stunt then the GSXR is the way to go. I mostly sport ride with ALOT of wheelies in between and for me the R1 works great. Stock gearing Standups are no Prob as low as 20 mph in second. :YEAH

For one, the subframe is welded to the frame, which = headache if broken, but I guess with some fabrication, you could steer away from that problem.

2nd, and this is strictly hearsay, I've been told by a couple of people that they are hard to get dialed in for runnin 12's...like I said, just heard that, don't know how legit it is...maybe someone hear can clarify on that one
