Cage Rage

I need to get another cage. I owned a FI cage and it got wadded up on a 12 drop. It broke a lot of stuff on my bike from just that one fall. The cage, magneto case, subframe tab, and frame tabs broke.

What is the best cage out there for a 02' gsxr>???????????????????

Re: Cage Rage

ive never tried the fi cage but the 905 cage is the only reason my bike still runs, i wish i had video of some of the falls its taken, almost all the times it hasn't broken anything when i swore a clipon or somethin would be trashed.
and my bike is an 02gixxer

Re: Cage Rage

Just don't drop your bike Sammy, lol. If you go with 905, first thing you need to do is cut that crappy bar that goes between the headers and your oilfilter off. That was the stupidest thing I've seen in my life.

that's a good point but on gixxer 1000's you have to make a choice. If you leave that bar, it will smash your oil line during a crash, if you cut it, the cage flexes and smashes your case covers.

Alot of the guys with 1000's up here are having that problem with them, still busting cases witha 905 cause it flexs....the ones that leave that bar in the middle, usually break their oil fitting when you drop it on the left side.

and ya, a lot of FI cage problems are due to the fact that people don't constantly tighten up the bolts. i made that stupid mistake also. every time i ride the bike i tighten up my cage bolts right before and i don't have any problems now. before i just ran no matter what, and when the bolts loosen, it'll cause damage, same with any cage, it has to be all tightened to work properly.

Me and scott haven't had that problem, or anyone else i know that rocks a 905?!?!

just be careful when putting it on the bike to leave a little bit of clearance.

Re: Cage Rage

I have now broken 2 Racing 905 cages. No clue why they break, but they do break on the right side rear mount. Any Ideas why they break there?

DAMNIT SAMBO! I know you didn't just ask this question on stuntlife!!!

good ol "dad" had the 905 cage on his 1k. It took a beating like no other. That bar that runs through the middle mashed up against his oil filter.. it didnt mess up the oil cooler at all... not that you have to worry about that anyways since you have teh "taco ingenuity" oil cooler... hahaha..
