I've got a 98 900 and when I'm rockin 12s no probs but get out on the highway rollin one for about a 1 1/2 to 2 miles it starts to run like **** like its running out of fuel and then I half to set it down. Were talkin 2 min at like 9000 to 9500 rpms WTF can I add a fuel pump like on my f3. The thing I'm worried about is if I see a cop and have to set it down and the things runnin like **** it take a few min before it starts runnin right again. Dont want to be fuked like chuck U know. If anyone has had this prob or no's a soluton holla back.

cant run a fuel pump, you'll just flood the carbs...

try changing your fuel filter, or remove the stock one and put an inline one on. maybe get carbs synced, i dunno

Re: 900 RR Fuel Prob?????

sounds like the carbs need cleaned and the floats adjusted. Try running the floats a little higher so it doesn't starve out.

is it blowing a lot of smoke when you set it down? if so then you might be flooding it out verses starving it.

pm cbrorange on here, he knows quite a bit about 900's.

Floats in a 900rr are plastic and you can't adjust them

think binders right, if the floats are out of adjustment, you do one of two things....
1-the bowls dont fill up fast enough and you starve it for fuel.
2- the bowls are too high and when you do a wheelie then set it down your flooding it.
#2 sounds like whats happening to you, same thing used to happen to my zx6r until i adjusted the floats, all you need is a ,****, i forgot what they call it exactly but its just a small ruler that fits in the float bowl, you measure the travel of the float in milimeters.

you can adjust the little peice of tin or whatever it is that the pin slides through that holds it in, also check your float valve, i already had one stick on me in my 900rr from slaming the bike around, all it takes is a tiny peice of debris and that ****er will stick and gas will pour into you cylinder. causeing a bogging

every bike i've ever pulled apart has had plastic floats, i've never saw otherwise. there is a little metal tab that touches the needle, you bend that and that adjusts the height. I know it can be done because it shows you how to do it here in my manual for 900rrs and also my manual for f2's.

and to clear it up, 96-99 900rr's are gravity fed. f2's are gravity fed, and f3's are fuel pump along with 93-95 900's are fuel pump.

now, tear that bioch apart, while you got it apart, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to clean, or even change the plugs in it. Pull the carbs off, replace the fuel filter, with teh carbs apart clean them out really good then use some high psi compressed air to blow the jets out (sometimes a little grain of sand gets stuck in there and carb cleaner won't help). I had that prob with my xr50, i cleaned the carbs like 3 times then ti still ran like crap, so my friend that works at honda told me to blow it out with compressed air, so i blew all the jets out and low and behold, it worked fine.
