Re: Getting a new chain, i need help please.

the size of the sprocket has nothing to do with the chain size (520, 530) just the length (links). just go with a 120 link, whatever other stuff you want (x-ring, o-ring) all depends on how much you wanna spend and the brand you want.

Re: Getting a new chain, i need help please.

any o-ring chain will work. DID, RK, EK, renthal, they are all good chains. I run just a did oring and don't have any problems with it at all. the x-ring is better, but for 40$ less my oring does the job just fine.

also, a 120 link chain should be more than enough. i'm 1 down 10 up and i had to cut links out of a 120 chain. I think i cut about 5 links out or so.

also, going 10 up won't kill your speed. you'll lose some top end, but do you really trust your stunt bike at 140mph? and i gained 1500rpms on normal highway cruise. after riding my bone stock 900 the other day, i like the gearing on my 929 better, more power on demand on the highway. riding at like 4k rpms on the highway makes it feel like a slug.

Re: Getting a new chain, i need help please.

You don't have to get a 530 chain....just get a good quality RK or DID chain in 520. With Sprocket Specialist you can go +12 for the same price as +10, so think about that if you are going to buy it new. I know someone with a +12 if you would want a used sprocket....only 3 months old. I am selling my +17 to him and I'm going to rock the 74 tooth. Let me know.

Re: Getting a new chain, i need help please.

i checked up on that deal. seems about normal to me. rear sprocket for my bike from SS was 56$, front was 34$, and a DID x-ring chain is 100$.

the deal before shipping with both sprockets and did x-ring was 167$.

so i just have front rear sprockets and a did oring chain instead of xring for around 140$. no biggy to me, a chain is a chain. if it stays on, and is oring to last i'm game.

oh ya, tenny, i forgot, i have a rear 12 up, it'll fit f2, f3, and 900rr....but it's from a newer 900rr so it's a 525 sprocket (damn honda with their odd size for new 900's). don't think you'll have use for it but if you do, hit me up and i'll see what i can do on a price. i have no need for it.

Re: Getting a new chain, i need help please.

i'm wanting to go -2 +10 but mopar i would take that deal but i need a new chain anways and i can get the sprokets for free. i have a 15, 14, sproket so i might as wellget the 13t for free and if its to much i can just go bigger in front. binder same with you i would buy it but if i'm getting it for free with the x-chain then i wont because the 40 dollar did chain i just bought is kinked to hell so i want to get something good. but i'll keep you in mind just incase my cash is low.

its kinked because you probably have a standard chain. you have to lube standard chains like every other day, i know because that's what i ran all last season. If you don't use chain lube on them every other day, they rust bad.

and have you talked to this guy about the deal, there isn't anything free about it....you are definatley paying for the sprockets. 167$ for a 110$ chain...no, they are adding cost in there for those sprockets. might not be a bad deal, but by all means not free sprockets.
