i broke my right femur clean in half as well about 12 years ago, have a stainless steel rode in it, never had the rode removed and have never had a problem since it has healed, good luck on the speedy recovery,

Update:

Daniel is doing better, he is still in a lot of pain and the nurses and doctors are having a hard time getting it regulated. I think he just has a high tolerance for pain killers considering the amount he has taken for other injuries in the past. We had hoped he may come home today, but it looks like it will be atleast another day. Thanks to everyone for your reply's of support, and to those of you that have called.

Im home now and making good progress! Kort's taking great care of me and also the guys from KC'sMostwanted. Looking forward to a strong recovery and to being back on the bike soon!
