Question Crash Cages

I heard a rumor today that F. I. was taking legal action against other maunufacturers for producing crash cages is this true? Are we going to be stuck with just one choice? Seems like our government this or nothing. They want to take away censorship and someone else wants to take away the product of our choice.

The only way FI can take any sort of legal action against anyone is for patent infringement. I think patents have been issued, but the difference between a lot of cages are significant so I doubt that it could be litigated in court..... with the exception of those that are an exact copy of FI's design

Re: Crash Cages

So The Rumor Is True Or Shall I Say An Actual Fact Now, That F. I. Is Taking Legal Action Against Anyone That Produces A Cage. Correct Me If I Am Wrong.

Re: Crash Cages

Id like to see what basis they are going after people for. If its the same concept as F.I.s then ok. If its a totally different design, I dont think so.

Re: Crash Cages

im interested too!!! if you sell cages they will go after you. i really dont see how they can compare their product to most of the cages on the market but the court is a funny place, you never know what might happen. i cant get in to too much detail but this is basically how it works.

if you make a cage for yourself then they cant do anything(I think). once you patent something, you basically tell the public how to make the product. patents simply protect you from someone stealling your product and then marketing it as their own.

Re: Crash Cages

FI wont get far with their legal action because of monopoly laws. Unless another manufacturer has duplicated their design nothing will happen. Everyone is entitled to improve upon existing products etc etc etc.

Re: Crash Cages

everything depends how broad their patent is. i really doubt they can do much unless you are selling a cage with detachable frame sliders and a bar that goes under the bike.
