Last night my friend was crossing a intersection at i think around 20 mph and a saturn tried to turn left in front of him and hit him. He fell off the bike and lost his shoe, when he got up he looked at the guy and he was on the phone with 911 so he acted like he was going to the gas station to get out of traffic and then took off to my dads a block away thank god with bent forks.
He don't have insurance and only a permit till next weeks saftey class so he freaked out and ran. We already got the forks apart and have to wait till mon. to get them straightened but know he needs the bellypan and fender. He's alright expect for rash on the knees and arm. I just wish i was there when it happened so i could whoop that ****ers **** that hit him. He called right when he got to my dads and after i checked out the damage i went to the gas station and the copo was talking to the guy saying that "my friend" must be ok if he left and that he prob didn't have insurance. He's got a 96 900rr with the round headlight and no upper or mids, should he repaint it a different color? ANy suggestions on what to do would be nice. What if he doesn't repaint it and the cops try to give him **** later in the future about it? He has the only orange bike in town.


Riders beware cause my friend said that he saw him start to pull out and then stopped and then at the last second he pulled out and hit him.. ride safe

Yeah u have to at least have liability here in IL. Me and my friend went to visit a freind in FL. and he told us that u don't have to have insurance there we were like OMG i wish. Florida's the ****.

 

On a more serious note....Did he ever find his shoe?

 

Gotta say the Orange bike is a problem!! I have one of the VERY FEW orange bikes in the great state of Montana and they stand out like crazy...I get pulled over 2 weeks after the fact if I ditch a cop or n e thing. It sux that you have to have insurance there (we dont in Montana either). I dunno what to tell you and your friend I hope you can get things put back together pretty cheap though!! Just tell your buddy if he gets pulled over to be wearing his "COPS LIE" shirt

You said his RR has round headlights?
Only the '93 & '94's came with round lights. Does he have older plastics on it?

BTW, I'd paint it...Go to Home Depot & buy a couple rattle cans of flat black or gloss white and he'll be good to go.

no he's got a harley like old schoole 8" round headlight with brackets is what it is. And as for the shirt goes he don't have that one but he's got the R4L "if u see the cops warnna brother" shirt. And yes he found his shoe he picked it back up before he took off. I had to put that he lost his shoe in there cause every wreck u see in a video they seem to always lose there shoe. He's alright now he felt the pain the next day but he's lucky. He don't wanna repaint the bike but i think he's gonna have the cops **** with him if he don't cause there going to be on the look out for that bike since he left the scene, and they know he don't have the bike legal..

But this coming weekend we take our safety driving school class for our motorcycle license plus we'll have insurance, so we'll be straight. He should have the bike runnning again by next weekend.

Try getting insurance in NY... It costs a ton to get full coverage... I'm waiting to hear from the State Farm agent to see how much mine will be for the new R6.

Yeah insurance is expensive for full coverage here in IL to. My friend is getting insurance this week and it costs him $50 for liability. I know for my 99 zx-9r through progressive is $5,000 a year for full coverage but i had my dad go on and i wiil only pay $200 for liability and $1200 for full coverage. I don't think the full coverage $ is to bad being that it will pay my **** off and Dr. bills if the wreck is my fault. Thanks for the posts and we should be riding legally this weekend if we get our parts in for both of our bikes.

 

Just get liability, you end up paying anyways. you break it you buy it.
