Re: best v-twin

If you get a tl, get the s, lighter and cheaper than the r's, the SV's are sick machines too and you can get them cheap. Even a sv650 has enough tourque cause of the twin to lift the front with ease...

Re: best v-twin

The S is lighter, but its down on power too. I think the headlight set-up on the S is a bit more stunter friendly than the R also (if it will see street time)--the composite design on the R is absolute crap! Either way, a little gear and the TL will bring it up wherever you want it.

Re: best v-twin

yep, TL1000S is what you need. EFI, not much down on power from TLR. But most important it's about 50lbs lighter too. The front is superlight. On four cylinder you usually have more weight on the front wheel. TLS is like 98kg to the front and 112 back.(wet).

Normal gearing is sky high 17/38, but is still wheelies without even trying. You have to try to keep it down..

Rear rotary damper is piece of ****, so get one which has TRE(timing retart eliminator). aftermarket rear shock and preferrable also harder front springs. helibars are also good for stunting.

search for d-aces and check out also www.tlplanet.com.<-one of the best resources on the net about TL's, both s&r's. I haven't seen better and more active site even from 900RR's

Re: best v-twin

TL-S is good but they tend to blow motors running a long time on 12's. I think.

Yep the TL-S is a great bike but like Kyle said runnin on 12 or very long highway wheelies tend to do damage to the motor

Re: best v-twin

if it has to be a twin and you wanna stunt it....sv650 and some sprockets!!!

- light as hell
- torquey motor
- inexpensive, even new
- a comfortable ride all around

have fun with whatever you choose bro

Re: best v-twin

The TLS or a Buell XB12R would be my choice. I bleed suzuki, but after riding the Buell @ a Harley place, I wouldn't mind either. Plus both IMO look awesome, but I give the Buell the edge....

Re: best v-twin

Oil pickup is pretty far back. So running oil to the upper line should keep you covered. but 12 can harm it. also it blows oil to the airbox, which can cause ping(oil vapor doesn't have much octane). This causes damage. Solution is to make catchcan that prevents the oil blow to the airbox.

Buell is good choice too.. Little less power, but enough...

Someone has mentioned that problem with v-twins and oil is that because the rear cylinder is much tilted back, the oil starts to gather to the rear cam cover thus lowering oil level. If the bike is running at 12, the oil cannot get back to the sump...

Re: best v-twin

TLS may be cheap, but the frame is more prone to cracks as compared to the R.

Re: best v-twin

not to worried about 12 oclocks, just simple wheelies and simple LONG wheelies and then also stoppies.

My friend Billy has been stunting a superhawk for about 3 years now and it has over 40,000 miles on it and he's only had to do minor repair to the motor! Great stunt bike once you get used to it!
