Who out there runs pizza sporckets and what are the bennys

just want to know the people who run them, to get a pro advice and why they run them and what are the benifits to run a bigger sprocket.

Seems to me many people look at big rear sprockets just like thumb brakes, they shun them. I my self just got a 16+ rear sprocket for my 2000 r6 and whant to know what i will benifit from better, or will it just **** up my whole style. i can basicly do 1 or 2 circles here and there, i have no handers down no problem, and in comps i love doing second gear tank, highchair, special k,and boston straglers, not to mention acrobatics. so will changing my sprocket to big in rear F#%& me up.

Re: Who out there runs pizza sporckets and what are the bennys

it will not mess you up, nor will it help you with circles. it will allow you to do some different slow things in first gear-combos, etc. 2nd gear will be like your first gear now. you will not be able to ride the street with it. it is like a handbrake in many ways because you can now bring the bike back from beyond balance point using engine braking. it is not cheating. there are no rules to be broken. it will make life easier on your 600, allowing it to come up easily and quickly without strangling the motor.

i'd say put it on if you don't plan on riding the street at all....but you have a handbrake too, so it is up to you.

Re: Who out there runs pizza sporckets and what are the bennys

last year i went from -2+7 to up twenty whatever (pizza pan as big as they come on the RR)....i loved it except that you can't ride street. It allows for non hand brake tall, tall wheelies...you can scrape highchair, tank, seat and come back down using the clutch as a 'brake'....that is about all that it does. i did all my combos in 2nd gear (normally first).

right now, i'm bone stock on my 636 and i rock out with my...well, you know. i ride this bike better after 1 week of riding, than i EVER did my RR. I am only going to go -2+5, so that i can maintain the street/trackability-the bike is so awesome, that it would be a shame if i didn't use it for what it was designed for! so good, i wish i woulda raced it last season! Cbo rocks +12 or something and creeps non brake stuff....

with big gears, you have to learn to be smooth on the throttle, bc big things can happen with very little throttle input. like i said, go for it...you can always change back.

Re: Who out there runs pizza sporckets and what are the bennys

i used 1st for non brake stuff so that i had engine braking...i varied btwn first and second for combos, usually second, but in first you can keep the speed real slow. i like second for idle stuff because your speed is a little more...first gear looks boring.

for just riding slow highchairs, spreaders, seat standers, i used 1st all the time bc you can go slower and use engine brake better....

Re: Who out there runs pizza sporckets and what are the bennys

my set up is -2 +21 on a 99 r6
my top speed is 110-115
i ride on the street everyday.
i just sit at a much higher RPM
the reason i went up was i really like to ride slow stuff
and with my stock gearing i would stall, and comming down from 12 when your bike stalls sucks pretty bad.
i like my sprocket change alot, but it took a while to get used to
i started doing everything in 2nd then with time i went to 1st
1st is very touchy but i love it now.
i don't think ill ever go back.
as far as freeway stuff.......i'll ride on the freeway with traffic and pass when i want.
i have no problems with highway wheelies (you just cant go over 115mph)
so good luck to you. i think you will like it.

115mph is pretty much a daily occurrence for me when riding the streets and living in the sticks...and i'd rather not be at 11 grand when doing it....

i enjoy RIDING the streets, not just being on the streets....big sprockets are garbage for this and change the bike from a street bike to a stunt bike....but, the gearing is fun and everyone i ride with who has RR all rock the pizza pan-it is definately fun and something new!

I am pro pizza pan. Engine brake rocks. its all about throttle control & as CBO says - "walking speed highchairs". thats the ****.

Re: Who out there runs pizza sporckets and what are the bennys

yeah how do they do highchairs without having control of the rear brake? do you trottle then get off and let the engine breaking bring it back down then trottle again and just kindof sit back on the engine braking per say?

I'm in the same boat...I had to gear mine b/c when I rolled slow the engine would bog down on my '96 F3 then stall. Plus the carburated F3's are heavy and have no power....I went -2 +17 and **** is off the hook...get the engine up to an RPM where it dosen't bog when rolling SLOW stuff...I ride it everyday around town...just rapped out to hell and back. Otherwise off the hook. :YEAH
