Who wants to get nasty and try this????

okay....not sure if it's been done or thought of but I'm thinking this might be new.

so you're in a situation where there's no rear brake (no hand brake either)

say you're doing a seat stander, tank wheelie, highchair, whatever and you're cooking along at a pretty decent clip, timing would be a mother f-cker for this one but you bring it back to coaster height kill the motor and pull in the clutch at the same time....then work the clutch as your brake. feather it out to regulate speed.

has this been done? I'm gonna go see what I can come up w/ in a few mins. if you don't hear from me by tonight it's cause I stacked up real nasty

Better start out with seat standers for that one. Easier to save it that way. Let us know what happens.

In theory id work i think. But w/ the bike off u'd have mad drag. and be REAL careful a little clutch w/ the bike off would set you down.

if you can do it. I now crown you super pimp.

With the engine shut off wouldnt it create way to much of an engine brake?

Just thinking of when you jump a bike how much it takes to jump in first gear

nah, reread. The clutch gets pulled in before or at the same time the kill switch is hit then ya feather the clutch instead of feathering the brake. basically a clutch coastie.. Thats a cool idea.

how did it work out?

yeah thats what Im talkin about, have you ever tried to jump a bike in first... when you let out the clutch the tire locks right up. Thats why its ten times easier jumpin in 2nd.

Feathering the clutch might help though

So with the engine off, how would you set it down? Feather out the clutch a little extra to bring it foward, then just let it drop? That would hurt like **** from a high chair.

That's not what Lb3 is talking about. There can't be too much engine break. It wouldn't matter if the engine is siezed. The amount of braking force is determined by how far the clutch is let out (until the clutch is completly disengaged, then it is determined only by the amount of engine brake).

Easy...thats the main prob....it will prob come down so fast. Ideally you would feather the clutch and when you were coasting slow enough...pop that kill switch back on and get that motor running for a smooth drop down...otherwise ya its prob gonna come down hard.

But ofcourse this is all theory =P

there can always be to much engine brake. Even w/ the clutch FULLY in there is drag w/ the bike off. With the bike runing sure - you can push it no problem. SHut hte bike off, put it in gear & pull in the clutch. **** is harder.

Re: Who wants to get nasty and try this????

it will work
couldn't get it to shut off and clutch at the right time....but I accidentally parked a seat stander while I shut it off and was able to bring it off the bar and coast for 30 feet then SLAMMMMMMMMMMED it down and cracked my frame a little more and almost flipped over the front of the bike as well I think I'll get something good going this weekend. problem is, all my instincts on how to use a brake etc, are f-cked because it's the opposite of pulling to get the drag so it's gonna take alot of time to get the feather right I guess.

wanna know how I came up w/ this idea? just a stupid thing I thought of, when I roll my bike down the ramp out of the truck I can't reach the front brake when I hop down so I just leave it in gear and drag the clutch to keep the speed reg.

I'll get video next time I try now that I know it'll be cool or make for good crash footage
