Re: regearing the transmision

Everything makes sence and could be done IF you could find someone to make the gears for you. You would need two new gears made, the countershaft and main shaft 6th gears. It would have to be someone that specially makes tranny gears or something comperable. The gears are somewhat special as they get carburized (a process in which the metal is heated to 1600+ degrees and a hydro carbon gas of some form is exposed to the metal for a desired time in order to make the surface harder). I have been in my engine/tranny before...the swap would not be hard at all, just getting the gears at a reasonable price would be hard.

Re: regearing the transmision

fellaz we're not talking about sprockets, machining a gear for a tranny would be a tedious process that would involve several expensive machines and smart people to work them. technically anything can be done, but the cost of machining new gears complete w/ splines, teeth, and clearances would be ASTRONOMICAL(sp).

i'm talking thousands of dollars. thousands.

oem manufacturers don't offer a variety of gears for your tranny, if they did our dreams would have been executed long ago.

don't hurt/waste your brain on this idea any further, it's not gonna happen.
