04 R1 honest dyno report, no sprockets needed...
Quoted from Shane an employee of Graves motorsports
Here is the deal... I'll get you the dyno charts as quick as I can. I
spent the last 6 days at the dealer show and got overwhelmed with
emails and sales stuff. I didn't have net access at the show cause
they wanted over 1500 for high speed access for the show and cell
phone reception wasn't great.
The stock and "NEW" bikes are dyno'ing at 158-162 range
consitantly... The bike has extremely tight piston ring tolerances
(reliability and longer lasting engines is the reason), after the
break in and things loosen up 162 is being seen consistently..! The
full graves systems are putting a solid 10 HP above the stock
settings.. leaving the full system and pc3 usb'd 04's dropping solid
168-172 rear wheel numbers .. The mid-range on the slip on is similar
to the full system in the power band but after that it's a solid GAIN
over the slip ons (slip ons are putting up around 5-6 hp over stock)..
ba bye Mr. GSXR1000

the 04 GSXR is unchanged from 03, no new HP
the R1 is also expected to make a few more with ram air above 70 or 80 mph, naturally the same works with the GSXR's air system, but the R1 is already like 10hp above the suk

I got to ride a 04 R1 the other day, the bike is real nice looking. I didnt get to rip on it but after riding my geared stuntbike for so long the R1 felt like it would do 100mph in 1st gear. I hope it smokes the gsxr!!

having said that, all brand new bikes that are coming out in 04 are bad ***!
just hope kawi fixes their trans. problem.
we will just have to wait for dyno tests to prove it

Re: 04 R1 honest dyno report, no sprockets needed...
when it comes to horsepower, the question is: "how much USEABLE hp does it have?" ....... and that's great if the new R1 has 300 horsepower, but all of it cant be used ..... the new Honda1000 is taking 1st and 2nd place at all the races and leaving the R1 behind ..... and it's obviously not Honda's HP that's getting it all the wins ......... but Im sure it's a nice bike though.
BTW, what's up with the new ninja 1000???? Isn't that joint supposed to be a beast too???

Peak horsepower doesn't mean anything. The area under the curve is what shows a motors true power. Lets see a 04 R1 graph laid over a 03 G1K graph, that is the only thing that means anything........

like i have said before, honda wins races because there race preped bikes are no where near the production version, yamaha and suk put the HP in there production bikes, that you can put on a truck, take to the track and compete with.
and see the original post, the new yami is puttin down 158 to 162, i aint no math major, but that is higher then 156........
i will post the graph as soon as i get one
and mecham, you gay ***, talkin bout usable HP, when you are on 270, all the hp is usable , dont be mad because you was stuck on a slow *** ZX9 for all those years...

liked the looks better then the 10, now it looks like it will be the HP king, plus it has removable cylinders, aka 1100 piston kit, and even more power
