Yo Teach or any other 900 Guru's

Re: Yo Teach or any other 900 Guru's
the front wheels/rotors/fork legs/triples are different from '96-'97 and '98-'99. If you swap it all, it is interchangeable...even with a 929. i've never tried it with a 954 though...
do you have everything '97 and just have newer style fork tubes? if so, I wanna say that you will need to convert everything to the newer style...not entirely sure though...lemme know and if no one else has a definite answer, i'll give Argos a call and they will know for sure!

Re: Yo Teach or any other 900 Guru's
i just did this on mine a week ago, here's the issues:
swapped 98 front forks onto a 96 bike:
98/99 triples are about a half inch wider than the 96-97s, so you will need to use 98/99 triples. Which also means you need a 98/99 front axle.
On mine, i got a front wheel (unknown year) and my 96 rotors. Since the forks are wider, the calipers dont line up with the rotors, i'm building 1/4" spacers that go between the caliper and the fork. I believe 98/99 rotors are offset more to make up for this, but i've also heard they dont bolt on to anything older than a 98 wheel. But other than that the 98/99s bolt right up to the 96/97 bike. Clipons, steering head, brake calipers, they all are interchangable without any issues.
Good luck, PM me if you have any questions.

rotors are not interchangeable.. if your 96 rotors worked, you DO NOT have a 98-99 rim, i dont know about earlier models.
you confirmed exactly what i thought...best bet is to get the whole 98-99 setup...BUT, Jimmy, if you are just looking for the 96-97 setup with ONLY newer fork legs, then i think you should be all set...
let us know how it works

ya, if you are only swapping fork legs, you can keep all your 97 stuff and it will bolt right in. but i recommend switching to the 98/99 stuff, its much beefier and just feels more solid than the older style.
