reinforce 98-01 R1 subframe?

reinforce 98-01 R1 subframe?

I know the subframe on the 98-01 R1's suck ***, so is there anyway I can reinforce the subframe so it wont snap or bend while doing 12's? Has anybody done this? come on mang...help a brutha out

if it breaks it will most likly be at the frame the thing is you have to get it welded or something of the sorts thats the bad thing about it

and it might bend the frame if you renforce it too much but im not sure

So either way....R1's suck when it comes to 12's. so there aint nothing I can do about the subframe then?

Cut it and bolt it. It may take a little fab work, but it could easily be done......

my man Crazy Dan had this on his site:

sub-frame - I recommend welding in a brace or some kind of reinforcement. you can see my sub-frame is braced up with 1/2 aluminum from the front to the rear. I snapped my first sub-frame practicing 12's. I was practicing them at slow speeds and was able to get away from the bike. If my frame would of snapped at a higher speed, the bike would have come right over back on me and there wouldnt have been anything I could have done to get away. keep a eye on your frame all the time for small cracks and bends!

yup...looks like crap...but a damn good idea!!! How is holding up? Can you guys tell me at what point of the subframe the R1 usually cracks or snaps at? thanks brutha :YEAH

I think that looks ....if you clean up the bike and put on all the fairings, it would look really good. Cant wait for you to test it out. Post up whenever you test it.....looks like im about to reinforce my subframe :YEAH
