stunt team
i wanna know what people think about how a stunt team
should be run.
if there is three people in it for example .
should all three film ,edit, travel you know do a even share for the team.
or should you just let the ones who have skills in setting up events and editing and filming and so on, do all the work and you just ride and tell everyone you meet your in a stunt team and just float and reap the benifits. should it be friends are just people who can ride ,that have nothing else in common than
just riding . so behind the scene there is **** talking and back stabbing, and what if you suck and dont even help out..
well let me know what you think. oh ya this will be put on gen discussion.

I'm sure every group is different.
DTE kinda works something like this...
*Johnny - Original Idea, Financial Investment, Marketing.
*Brian - Created Image, Marketing, Public Relations.
*Damien - Scheduled Shows, Innovated Stunts, Created Relationships w/ Business Contacts.
*Chris - Created Relationships w/ Business Contacts, Innovated Stunts.
*Chauncey - Innovated Stunts. Chauncey brings the people.
Everyone plays their part. It's tough but somehow things get done.

This is the knife that stabs every team in the back at one point or another no matter how big you are or are not. If you are "organized" and have goals, than it will happen. High expectations create the biggest chance for disappointment. All that said...here is our story! BTW...Bri from DTE seems to have a great grip on this, and from what I know of the team, they are reasonably or totally harmonious! Props to them for that!
I dreamed up and created my team! The Psychogang! We started like every other team. Just friends riding our bikes! We saw all the videos back in the day and began to dabble with the stunts. A select few of the guys riding in our crew began to focus on it and began to "excel" at it...which I know "excel" is a debated term, but in our area, we were and still are the best and most well known stunt riders. Anyway, I grabbed the top 6 guys and formed The Psychogang! We sat down and dreamed it up on paper a few winters ago. On paper it was all even input, even dedication, and even contribution! Looked great...UNTIL we began the process of taking it to the next level. So that I do not ramble I will jump to the hard truth! I did ALL the work! All the contacts, all the negotiations, all the money managing, all the emails, etc. First one to the track, last one to leave! You get the idea...I took my team from a bunch of unknown street riders to an organized team who was getting paid to ride in front of people almost every weekend. We still are "unknown" nationally but we have a very big following where we are!
Most of my guys did NOTHING except ride the events. That pissed me off because they did not contribute as they should have off the track, but yet they took home the exact same amount as I did every show! I started it for the love of it, but when you take it to the next level, and commit every available spare minute to the success of your team, LOVE goes out the window, and passion and determination step in! All this created an enormous amount of tension. We battled and fought...lost one of our best riders, but we had to reorganize this year, and it is still a building process, but I now have it set up that the guys who put in the effort, get the return. It is basic business sense, and friendship needs to be looked past if you are in "business" together.
Our team is tighter and more focused than ever! We are committed to the goal, and those who fall along the way will do so only because they chose not to dedicate themselves!
Make rules now! Set expectations reasonably, but hold people in your group ACCOUNTABLE for their part in the teams success and be willing to move on without them if they do not hold up there end of the deal! You can always find a replacement for the guy who will not do his part! In my group, talent is not enough! You must be as good off the bike as you are on the bike! I am not the best rider in the country for sure...and there are several guys on my team who are better than me, but none of them would ever challenge my drive or dedication to the success of this team. They know now their skills on the bike are not enough, and that if it was just good riding skills offered, we would all be still riding on the streets for free! I still do most of the work, but I am willing when I know I have guys who will work hard with me! I also get a little extra % of the take for all the managerial duties, which has been a good solution for us!
Hope that helps! Sorry if it was too much info. but I just recently went through this with my team so it is fresh in my mind!
PEACE!
