Tire Pressure - from no handers to donuts....

I KNOW, I KNOW! This topic has been beaten to death.

BUT, I did use the search and I still have the question.

I know alot of all around riders use about 15-20 psi. I know myself for alot of the no hander & real slow stuff I rock like 10 psi (yeah i know, **** looks flat).

I love how the bike feels & how stable it is under that - but w/ the tire so f'n flat - doing donuts or big smokey burnouts is a task. Always wants to push the front tire.

For the love of god. Who out there can rock a decent PSI & still rock donut after donut? I miss the old figure 8's. Next time im out Im going to try & put a few more PSI in and see if i can find a happy medium.

any suggestions?

yeah no doubt - at the end of a show you need 2 people to hold the bike still so you can beat it off the rev limiter.

Crowds no matter how technical ur riding, love burn outs! its a fact. Do no handers by em. Get a rise. Do a rev limiter burn out. They are wavin thier shirts around thier heads. Go figure. Im gonna try 15 psi. that sounds like a good #.

Just didn't wanna start another "what tire pressure can i 12 at" thread.

I was running about 15-18 psi with a beat *** 207. No tread left, chords showing. Sucked, cause she would spin alot, but it was pretty stable. I just put a new 208 on, and i can't keep the bitch steady with NTH's and NH's. Its all over the place with 10 psi. I think its the tire being new. Anyways, my point is, i guess if your tire is fairly new and not flat-spotted in the center, its tough to run low psi and not wander etc. Once the tire is "broken in", i think you could probably run higher psi, but sacrifice traction.

Just start raisin the pressure up, you'll get used to it. We're all rockin about 20lbs now. It was a pain in the *** at first but once you get used to it you have mad more control. I can't even remeber the last time I pulled a donut, blows up spots to much.

Every tire is different, i don't even use a gauge anymore, just fill it up to where it feels good pushing on it, ride, then let out a little at a time til it's good.

If i had to guess, im usually around 15psi, but like i said, every tire is different

I know that a 207 is more stable (even with more pressure) than a pilot sport with less pressure. Something to do with profiles and construction IMO.

Good luck bro, im stickin with the guessing technique and not thinkin about it.

i usually run about 15psi, great for 12s, donuts are possible, but 35psi is way better. and as far as what tire to run, all tires suck until you wear through almost all the tread, i like a bald tire at 15psi, seems to be the most stable. thats just me tho

I run about 22-25 on Pilots. No handers are hard as hell to steer....but for overall riding capabilities it is much better.

I also had to re-learn 12's with more tire pressure, it's a bitch...but much better once you get use to it.

Me too, when they are worn, its the perfect profile. Our stunt spot has a crown, and it never affected me much with my old worn 207. Now with this new 208i i am all over the place, granted she hooks up awesome. If you live where its warm your golden even with a worn bald rub. Here in Jersey we stunt year round, from 30 degrees to 90, we are out there killin it. When it gets cold, those old bald *** tires just won't grip until they are real warm, even then sit down 12's are a bitch cause the tire slips a good amount.

Thats why you take a brand new tire. Set it on the rev limiter, wear it in & go to work!

I used to kill donuts when I ran 20 psi - but I wasn't rockin as much slow stuff. Enough talkin. more riding (on my part)

I hear ya. Having to put air into the tires towards the end of the show sucks...but like you said....the people love the smoke!!!

So I'm in the same boat. I guess I'll start next spring adding 2lbs at a rip and start getting used to that.

But for now I'm having a hard time figuring what psi to run with my studs in my tire

i run 8psi on all slow stuff. I didn't like the rear tire bouncing on doing donuts. I just carry an air tank with me where ever i go ride now

problem solved

most tire gauges don't coorespond with each other , just ride with what you feel comfortable. I'm sure if I measure the psi. in my tire with 5 different gauges I will at least get three different readings.
