Temperature and Stoppies
At what temperature do you guys start feeling uncomfortable trying stoppies? Today was probably around mid 40s here in Jersey. To me that was warm enough to practice them, but not warm enough where I was comfortable bringing up my speed and pushing a little harder. My front wheel did skid out.
What temp do you guys feel stoppies are significantly effected by the cold? I'd say below 40 is really where it starts to hinder performance and zap confidence for me.
Maybe it's good to practice in the cold though cause you have to be that much smoother to keep it from locking up. Plus you'll have more confidence when it's warm.

I was out today practicing. It was tough, i need a new front tire though. I am gonna to a Dunlop D208 in the back and a pilot sport in the front. But i don't have a damper either so that affects everything

up here in the woods of NH, we run Metzler M1's or Avon Azarros-both nice cold weather tires...the metzler has a nice wide footprint, that is why i like it over the avon...michelins hook up perty nice too...i dont know anyone running dunslops-they are great on the track, but are too pointy in profile for my liking, i tried a 208 tearoff and hated it...
as for cold weather endos, you simply have to warm the tire up and set aside some time for endos. you cant be trying to do endos, do a few wheelies and then try again-allows the tire to cool...
also, be smooth on the initial get up and you will have better luck...it's like wheelying in the rain, learn to be smooth and control the bike, instead of just dumping the clutch!
keep at it, cold weather is a bitch but it makes you better in the end!

don't get regular 208's, get GP...they hold up and are sticky as can be.
pilots, i didn't mind the front, they cupped horribly but they were nice when they were new. the rears, whoa, after seeing one of those blow up, i'm glad i don't run them anymore....crappy carcus on them.
and J, that stoppie is off the hook!!
