why is a r1 a hard bike to stunt

i've noticed that a lot of people are getting rid of there r1s. I got a 2002 that is unstable and not a real good stunt bike, plus the throtle is so touchy. What bikes are good for stunting, and how can I make mine more stunt compatable.Looking for feedback.

1998-2001 subframes are welded on which is no good, and also carbs are really bad at 12 o clock bike dies out easily. 2002-2004 subframes are really lightwieght and weak, couple hard smakes and your done, a 2002 is a ok stuntbike if you are very experienced like A.C farias and dont do much bar trick's, get a 900 or 929.

r1 suck but if you get good on one imagine what you can pull off on a dub r or like wise i had and am still trying to get rid of my 98 subframe is not only weak as **** but welded = a f#$kin mess . i had a twelve bar on mine and was scared to tap to hard cause i could bend my frame just by pushing on it never mind lenghty bar tricks . i would wheelie for miles but had horrbly high balanc point and twitchy throttle . endos were ok but was prone to wash out and send me to the ground but it could have been **** tire . over all it sucked it was furred . tank caved ,upper shaved /padded 12 barred and shitty . dont stunt theses unless you have to . tones of power though !

Twitchy throttle, subframes on the older ones like Darius mentioned. Not too mention, is it just me or are they long as crap, lol. Get a 929 or a GSXR, you'll be better off.

weight distributed over 51% to the rear...bad- bidness, thats why the front is twitchy.

Friend of mine has a Limited edition 03 and rocks it slower and smoother than almost anyone I've ever seen on any other kind of bike

Why people gotta hate on the R1 so much? heh.

Mostly, it boils down to a few factors..

Weight
Center of Gravity
Carbs (pre 02 models)
VERY weak subframe
Wobble in long wheelies
Footpeg snapping (among other parts that snap spontaneously)

Unless you plan to drag tail you can stunt an R1 nicely. If you want to get serious beyond casual freeway stunnin or rolling 150-200feet endoes.. then get yourself a bike JUST for stunting. This applies to any type of bike really.. if you own a bike for riding and stunting, you will inevitably destroy it from the stunting, and then have nothing to ride..

Don't have a TON of pics, simply because video takes precedence over photos.. so usually i am stuck on video duties, and on the occasion i'm not shooting video.. my teammate is usually shooting video of me rather than using one of the still cameras to get pics.. or he'll shoot video of someone else, and i'll shoot pics. All of these images are from early this year.. like january or february.. gotten a lot better since then hehe.

For what it's worth (shameless plug time) we released our DVD this month.. which has (obviously) video of us on the R1's.. among some other really talented riders. Runtime is approx 46mins, and over an hour w/ bonus footage. Trailer available here ...and the DVD can be viewed/purchased on our site.. www.apexfilms.com

From february..

My teammate rocking super high balance point (without a damper too haha)

My teammate again standing on the seat (or as we prefer to call them, "prison rape" wheelies)

Gary from CKX in Tampa.
