well, as you see you will get a lot of mixed reactios here. i can speak from experience though. now first off, not that I am the best, just familiar with my bike. so, i just dont want any coments to be misconstrued. i like the bike for some things and not for others. it definitely has the power to do all you would need it to. it has a more "race" postured set up than most other bikes and i dont care for that (but i am about 6'1") so it might not matter to you. the carburation is an issue i really didnt notice it untill i started doing 12's, but i sync'ed them and it seems to be doing ok, but thats normal maintinence anyways. as far as keeping it mint, it aint gonna happen if you really stunt it. my bike might look good in some pics but you got to see it in real life to appreciate the scars. stoppies can be a little tough to keep straight and steer but it just takes a little more practice. definitely get a GOOD steering dampner. as far as reliability i can not complain it has never broke, and (with the carb syncronization excluded) it has always run awsome and i just put my first set of clutches in at 13,000mi. but i keep up with my maintinence strictly (just ask jimmy). about the subframe, its fine unless you have a bad crash and wont stop you from 12's just see my custom roller bar. there have been many comments on why people thought i did it but the main reason is only to take the load of the sub-frame while scrapping (very minimal load on frame because all energy is being absorbed by the bearings in the roller and not the frame welds) i could go on about all the little pro's and con's but it is definitely a bike that is a little harder to stunt than most, but with practice can be done. i have no complaints, but in reality i would like a 929rr, but that will have to wait. it looks to me like you are trying not to stunt it but you just want us to talk you into it so you can justify it, it is a very nice bike so if you like it, dont stunt it, and save up for a 929. thanks for all your time.

jag look at the ri compared to other bikes.

welded subframe
long *** rear sets.( my boy ate **** when his broke )
really twitchy in endos
twitchy in wheelies

my other friend had your bike and i rode it a few times but it is scary. he rode my gsxr 1000 once and decided he was buying one. he hoped on my boy's 750 and was riding better wheelies in like 2 seconds.

we all ride new gen gixxers around here but there are other good stunt bikes out there.

sell your mint r1 ( before it isn't mint anymore )
then buy either a new gen gixxer ( fuel injected then call me and i'll tell you how to keep it from shutting off in a 12 ), or a honda either 900, 929. you can get either of them for less than you can sell your r1 for. there are a fw guys rockin the **** out of zx6's too. but you would prob miss the power. i say either 929 0r gsxr 750 or 1000. but darius does stunt the *** out of his r1.

the decision is up ito you but i am just trying to shed some light ona few things.

good luck w/ whatever you do.

hope to see you at sw.

When you do 12's with the rollerbar, do you find yourself moving a little faster then you want to be when you touch down, in other words with all the other bars the bike would seem to slow a little, but having a roller on it, you would seem to just keep moving. hence less friction.

or do you consider it better because if you hit a little harder then planed it wont pole vault your bike

I had thought about creating a bar with either a larger round back plate, or maybe have some flat deleron (same material as frame slider) attached to the actual scrape bar.

what parts did you actually use to make the rolling type

thanks for all your help.

woo much better now....well this whole thread is sad as hell :mourning

I have a 01 R1.....i must say your bag of tricks are few, however I am buying a 929 to trash out!! Try your local insurance recking yard. This one here in Dallas has a field of bikes waiting to be stunted......One of my buds picked up a 2001 929 for under 2,500.00 ....with minor fix ups to get it running solid!

As for my R1 she is a sexy hoe, and I am keeping her in the corner for those twisty days......

2 cents for your decision......

Hey how about that band!!
