...Crashed doing a nac-nac
last night I went out with some friends to hit up one of our favorite riding spots. On the way there we were ripping wheelies. I pulled a standup and went to a nac-nac as soon as I got my right leg fully over my damn left peg snapped. I was going about 65 and had gp plus alpinestar gloves on so after surfing down the road and dodging all of the cars I got to my bike. My bike was saved by the frame sliders so I was able to ride home in second gear. I slid backwards feet first for about 30-40ft on my shoes and hands. I could see the cars coming at me. That was the purest flow of adrenaline. I know that I was lucky because it could of happened at 100+. I ended up with about 20 minutes of scrubbing to do on my right arm to get the road dirt out. Just think of yourself riding a nac-nac and then the peg snaps from under you. I will never stop riding.

my buddy had the same thing happen on his r1 in a stand up at about 70. he only had half his weight on the left peg(other half on the right) when we spoke to a dealer friend he told us that this is not an uncommon occurence on the r1's and that yamaha is aware of it but they are claiming that its the riders fault that they are "riding the bike in a manner that it wasnt intended" (yeah ok becasue thay make a 140bhp factory bike for the street just to go out and ride it on a track?) best thing our friend told us is change the rearsets/pegs to a quality aftermarket set.......yamaha doesnt care about it i guess........only question i have is how come they dont face facts about how some people really ride and work these things out they have no problem making a dirt bike peg that holds up to landings after 50 ft of air on dirt bikes (and sponsoring those who do it????????) sorry to hear about yer wreck.....duct tape it back together ansd get back on ooooooooooohhhhhh and KEEP IT ON ONE WHEEL!!!!!

yo man i can feel your pain, i had the **** happen to me too only i was rollin burnouts to wheelies. i went along burnin the tire and then commin straight up to a wheelie while the tire was still smokin. well the last run i went up for the wheelie and SNAP the peg broke off the left side...i walloped my boys solid on the tank even dented it a bit busted my windscreen from throwin my self over the front , but i didnt go down....i can see how it would suck , **** i was actually sayin "im glad i wasnt doin a nac-nac at the time or i woulda been screwed".....glad u r ok man....i got a buddy of mine to make me some steel brackets and pegs to put in the place of the flimzy *** alumi. ones....he owns a steel fabrication shop so it wasnt no thing.....maybe look into that steel will hold...just make sure they are hinged pegs so if it does go down it wont snap the frame.....peace

The search feature is disabled so I have a rather duh question to ask. What's a nac-nac?
Us Canadians only get about 4-5 months of good weather to even practice stunts and I'm not that well versed on all the different kinds.
Thanks.

Rcketgrl a nac nac is when you are wheeling you take one of your feet off the peg and put behind you on the other side. Most people take there right foot off and stick behind there left foot. Hope that helps. Dustin

peg snapping
My left peg broke while I was doing a candybar last season on my 900. I went down pretty hard.I think the peg or rear set was cracked from a previous crash. That's why I always check out my **** before we rip it up.
