saving a gsxr motor

is there anyway to help save a gsxr motor when doing 12's. been hearing about alot of blown motors lately. is there an after market oil pickup or anything else that can be done to help keep from starving the motor?

GSXR motor

GSXR motors oil pickups are near the rear of the oil pan....which is a good thing. Just make sure you are completely topped off with oil (all the way to the top of the window) and you will be fine. My 1000 has 4500 miles worth of 12's and is still going strong

......and dont do burnouts/rev-limiters when you are on the scrape bar

You play you pay....

I just blew my motor...and forking out the $$$$ to replace it . My motor had abut 15,500 miles on it and was always filled to the top of the window with oil. But like Mellon said, try to stay away from too many rev limiter burnouts and 12 burnouts...unless you like replacing your engine or have money to burn.

Hey bro got some news for ya: the oil pickup on newer GSXR's aint near the back of the pan. i had the pan off of my 01 1000 and much to my dismay, it is actually pretty close to the front. down deep enough in the pan to keep lubed though I guess because my 01 1000 had 25000 miles, many of which were multiple mile freeway style third or fourth gear standups (not as steep as a 12 but pretty steep)

never a problem with that 1000. it has like 30K on it now, still going strong

hey nags- have you had any problems with your 750? i would rather modify it now if possible then fix it later. although i did just pick up an 01 750 motor with less then 4k just in case.

actually pulled the pan off my 750 when I blew my motor and it is aimed backwards, I now run 4 qys of 20 50 semi synthetic and havent had a prob since.

ps prob when the motor blew was not enough oil - no oil change - hi rev 12
