Minimizing the crunch of setting down high stoppies

I found that if I tap the rear brake while up in a high stoppie.. that the bike will set down basically without a sound. A couple of friends and I tried doing them repeatedly and we watched each others bikes as they were set down, and figured out that most of the noise was created by chain lash as the rotating wheel suddenly halted.

You could actually see the 'wave' travel up the chain as the wheel came to a sudden stop. It was like a whip effect. These are properly tensioned chains, too! Un-freaking beleiveable. That can't be good for the chains/sprockets or the tranny output shaft.

From now on.. when I come down from a stoppie my back wheel is going to be STOPPED.
