Surfaces

I was wondering if everyone elses stoppies depend drastically on the surface. For instance, I can not pull up a stoppie without locking my front up on my street. It is the typical packed tar and pebble street.

Of course on concrete I do not lock up, but is my technique flawed or is it just the surface?

Most likely the surface. For instance you can and most likely will lock up the front tire if you try to do a stoppie on a painted line on the road.
