Any jacket will screw-up in a high speed wreck. It's better to have some proctection rather than no protection.

Check out these Mesh Jackets .......

I have had a Dianese Leather since 97 I paid like 650 for it. It's been down numerous times, 1 time at 75mph and still in great shape- some rash but no rips. So I guess a good jacket will not always screw up at high speed- but when it's 95 degrees and too hot for leather a mesh is better than bare skin.

i have joe rocket ballistic and i don't have problems with it. they aren't really made to take the place of leather, more or less they are made to hold the padding in them on your body to help with the impact. if it was suppose to withstand road rash tehy would just make it out of leather. the padding helps a lot in crashes, and that's why they make them.

Yes the mesh jackets will melt in a high speed crash but if your doing like 30 40... it should hold up pretty well. Cordura is better then mesh its breathe able and it is alot stronger then the mesh.
just my .02 cents

I've seen mesh jackets hold up perfectly at 100mph+ wrecks, and I've also seen them tear to shreds at 30mph wrecks... It all depends on the wreck and how you slide

My buddy went down with his at 127 mph and all he had were burns from where the coat rubbed his skin as he was skiddin on the highway. Only very minor tears but no meltage. Mine has held up after going down at 35, just scuffed.

I have one, haven't fallen with it on (yet) though. I did fall at 120-130 one time in my leathers, and still got a small piece of leather burnt on my knee, other than that I got up, ran to my bike, and left the crash site on a wheelie (and no clutch fluid, left exhaust, and a partial shifter). I LOVE MY LEATHERS!

That was my Superhawk after repairs, and my leathers after restiching. I ride an RC51 now.
